Game Thread: Giants (Brebbia) v Twins (Ober), 5/22 @ 6:40pm CT

Message added by Squirrel,

Just a reminder: game threads are not a dumping ground for drive by name calling and/or over-the-top negativity.

Haven't seen the actual lineup yet, but I have Buxton on a couple of my fantasy teams, and he's supposedly playing tonight. If it's correct, that's great news.

I just added it above and yep, he is in the lineup 🙂

Interesting that Castro and Solano are in the lineup but Larnach is not. I understand Castro is hot, but Solano, not so much. although both are warmer than Larnach looking at the stats over the last 15 games.  Maybe Larnach goes back to AAA when Kepler is ready.

BTW, same trivia question that didn't get answered over the lost weekend in LA:

In which World Series did the winning team score more runs in the top of the first of game 1 than the losing team scored in the entire series?

Hint: there's a hint in this post.

I'll check in occasionally but tonight's trivia night with Chief Jr Jr at a local brew house.  I'm there to cover the ... uh... less recent stuff. Wish us luck. We've finished 3rd twice in a row in a contest with prizes for the top 2 teams.

It's an amazing piece of trivia that somehow still manages to understate just how dominant the winning team was that year.

14 runs by cincy in 1989?

Cindy wasn't in the 1989 World Series, if I recall correctly.

So no.

Perhaps you're thinking of 1990, which was a sweep by the Reds, but that's also incorrect.

So the upshot: trivia isn't Ober.

Hahahahaha

Son nr 2. Daughter sometimes joins us too. I suspect my picking up the tab figures into it all somehow.

I thought since you wrote Chief Jr Jr that there was another generation in there.

It's my learned opinion it is the single greatest piece of baseball trivia in the history of, uh, baseball.

1963 WS. Dodgers beat Yankees, 4-0

Nope.

A quick check of bbref shows LA did not score in the 1st inning of game 1.

Have to like the Yankees getting swept though.

Interestingly enough, I also often participate in trivia at local brew pubs with my second son and my daughter.

I always do so, but rarely correctly. My default answer for questions about movies is "The Wizard of Oz".

BTW I found the answer to your trivia question after a bit of research. But I'm not going to spoil it for others by posting the answer here or tweeting it.
