The DFA'd him this week? I missed that. Yikes, bad timing, seeing as how they just lost their closer Bautista to TJ surgery this week too. And the last box score I saw, Lopez had pitched 1.2 scoreless and hitless innings. Baseball is a weird game, and often heartbreaking.

He was ineligible to pitch in the playoffs since he was claimed on waivers after the rosters expanded.

Does Tyler Wells make the playoff roster? He's back, after a 7-week exile to the minors, pitching in relief.

Cano didn't have a great September, about as bad as his not-very-good July. His August was spectacular, though.  He'll be on the roster of course, but will he close?

mlbtradesrumors.com reported that Cano will be the primary closer for the Oriole postseason. He's had a great year, but I doubt he'll be an perennial All-Star.

Second half dead arm, like we see so often and same thing Ryan and Ober went through most likely. Just got tired.

Wells spent some time closing for Baltimore during his Rule 5 season, and closed out the AL East clinching win for Baltimore on Thursday night.

I just saw this on mlbtraderumors.com—several ex-Twins are now free agents. Included are Chase De Jong, Tommy Milone, Taylor Motter, Kyle Garlick and Caleb Hamilton. Travis Blankenhorn has also declined an outright assignment and is a free agent.

In addition, it is reported that Celestino can opt for minor league free agency after the season ends. He has likely seen his last day in a Twins uniform.

Yes, Wells is on the playoff roster. He pitched 1 scoreless inning in relief today. although in a losing cause.

Also in that Baltimore game today, our old pal Aaron Hicks homered, but it was all for naught as another ex-Twin, Mitch Garver, hit a grand slam for Texas. And in more ex-Twins news, Baltimore used both Danny Coulombe and Yennier Cano in relief. No sign of Kyle Gibson yet. Did he make the playoff roster?

Gibson is on the active roster, but I don’t think he is starting Game 3.

Former Twin bullpen arm Michael Fulmer will miss all of 2024 after undergoing elbow surgery.

Michael Fulmer Expected To Miss 2024 After Undergoing Elbow Surgery - MLB Trade Rumors

Fulmer pitched in 58 games for the Cubs this year after splitting 2022 between the Tigers and Twins. The former AL ROY (2016) is still only 30 years old so I would expect him to return in 2025.

Dan Serafini is in jail in connection with the murder and attempted murder of his in laws.

https://www.cbsnews.com/news/ex-mlb-player-danny-serafini-samantha-scott-arrested-2021-shooting-man-killed-wife-wounded/

I was wondering if this was the forum thread for this topic...

Just to think... Tom Brady played in high school (baseball) with Dan Serafini, and then played in the NFL with Aaron Hernandez... Coincidence?

Fans of my age who collected cards back in the day probably have a bunch of Serafini draft pick cards like I do. I wonder if they're worth more now?

Very creepy news about Serafini. Eager to read more about his very weird and disturbing case.

Thinking about  ex-Twins, Trevor May announced his retirement last week, after a very honest and expletive-laced bashing of the Oakland A's  ownership. But Trevor ended up having a good season with the A's, and he's not that old, do we really think he's retiring for good?

So who made the last out for the Phils in the NLCS?

Our boy Jake.

That at bat was the second time I said "what the hell" while watching a Phillies game. The first time was the last time they put him up to bat in a huge situation.

I don't follow NL so I have no idea who else they had on the bench."

Regardless, this will be a superb bar bet in about a year. "Who made the last...."

Oliver Ortega is now a former Twins pitcher. Houston claimed him off of waivers. His AAA numbers were excellent, but he was injured. He is still only 27 years old.

He also had a double in that game.

I read that ex-Twin Ron Washington, who just got hired to manage the Angels. may include two other ex-Twins on his coaching staff: Chili Davis and Torii Hunter.

Funny. And even while Davis' career did overlap with both Washington and Hunter, none of them actually played together. Not on the Twins nor any other MLB team.

And yet, they are “favorite Twins” for a lot of us.

That is funny, I didn't realize that Washington hadn't played on the team at the same time as either of those guys. Maybe he can bring back Mickey Hatcher, who actually was the Angels hitting coach a few years back.

Hunter has turned that offer down.

Old friend James Rowson gets to coach Aaron Judge and Giancarlo Stanton.

Maybe he can get them to set the new season HR record after the Yankees fell just short? 🤪
