Rosterman Verified Member Posted May 31, 2022 Author Posted May 31, 2022 Kept holding out just in-case. But J.A. HAPP has called it quits. FIne solid career! Us Twins fans maybe wished for a bit more.... but his end was in sight! https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2022/05/j-a-happ-retires-blue-jays-yankees-phillies-pitcher.html
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted May 31, 2022 Posted May 31, 2022 I have no ill will towards Happ. The man took a no hitter into the 8th on my birthday. The closest I've seen a Twins pitcher get in a game I've been at.
lecroy24fan Verified Member Posted June 3, 2022 Posted June 3, 2022 Brent Rooker recalled by the Padres.

Just called up his stats, and his total career line looks pretty good if it was one season of ball. Boy, he sure doesn't strike out. But 16 homers in 170+ games and 500+ at bats. Even a stolen base. Plus, as shown above, he can be the emergency pitcher!!!!! https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/a/astudwi01.shtml

Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 8, 2022 Author Posted June 8, 2022 B.J. Boyd has been signed by the Angels out of Indy ball. Erik Manoah Jr. was released from the Braves organization and signed with Lancaster in the Atlantic League. Tyler Jay has found work after an absence of a couple of seasons. He was a first round draft pick by the Twins back in 2016. The lefty is pitching now for the Joliet Slammers in Indy ball. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=jay---000tyl

Reports of Nelson Cruz's demise may be premature. If this has been reported elsewhere at TD I missed it: since May 7, his OPS has been 1.020. His putrid April leaves his aggregate season OPS at a non-Cruzlike .761, but this is progress for our old friend.

But supposing they later waive him and succeed in an outright assignment to AAA, can he still invoke his opt-out clause and shop for another team?
stringer bell Verified Member Posted June 19, 2022 Posted June 19, 2022 Tommy Milone selected by the Mariners. The epitome of the term “soft tossing lefty” will appear in the majors for the 12th consecutive year.

An opt-out is immaterial now that Chi Chi is on a major league 40-man roster. He can’t be optioned so he is with the Brewers until he they would designate him for assignment resulting in a major league claim or the right to declare free agency
Rosterman Verified Member Posted June 21, 2022 Author Posted June 21, 2022 Former Twins NICK VINCENT (Braves system) and SERGIO ROMO (Seattle majors) have been cut from the organizations. Former minor league prospect Chris Mazza has been removed from the 40-man roster of the Rays. Iam Krol was released from the Padres system.
Danchat Verified Member Posted June 21, 2022 Posted June 21, 2022 Good to see Cruz rebounding, he seems like a logical trade candidate in a month's time. Washington has no need for him. Can't believe Milone has pitched at least one game every year since 2011. Woof!

I need to find a way to take away the jinx I accidentally put in Nellie - a little help? In the 7 games since, his OPS has been..... unmentionably bad.

Miami is not doing that bad. 32-38. The problem is that in spite of being a fan favorite he's a marginal baseball player, he's not physically fit, and he'll be 31 in October. I don't think any contending team would have a spot for him and rebuilding teams won't spend their resources on him.
