The Pitchers

LHP J.A. Happ (1-0, 1.69 ERA, 10 K's, 16 IP) vs LHP Logan Allen (1-3, 6.28 ERA, 11 K's, 14.1 IP)

The Twins turn to J.A Happ, who turned in a no hit bid through seven innings last time we saw him against the Pirates, and is responsible for one of two wins over the past 15 games. Happ has done a great job at limiting right handed hitters this year, as he has only gone up against 9 left handed hitters this season. He's having great success with his fastball and sinker, limiting hard contact. The slider has been the main swing and miss pitch, but expect the changeup to come into play eventually. Logan Allen has been very bad in the young season. and has only gotten through a combined 4.1 IP in his last 2 starts. He has not made it more than 5 innings. Both lefties and righties are hitting the southpaw well, and has given up 4 longballs in 14 innings of work. Allen will come at Twins hitters with a fastball that sits at 92-93, and pair it with a slider against both sides of the plate. The changeup has been his best putaway pitch, but he only throws it to right handers.

The Twins move Byron Buxton up to the leadoff spot with Luis Arraez getting a rest day against a left hander. He's followed by Josh Donaldson and Nelson Cruz, but then the lineup appears to drop off rather quickly. Jorge Polanco is in the cleanup spot, and we all know he's been on the struggle bus. Mitch Garver continues to hit in the middle of the order against LHP, despite struggling mightily. I wrote about what's went wrong with Garver, and how things can get back on track. Brent Rooker gets himself another start which is hard to complain about. Willians, Simmons, and Kiriloff round out the order. I know the surface numbers aren't there for AK, but he's been crushing the ball this year. I think it's pretty telling that he's here for the long haul if they're starting him everyday, even against a lefty. The Twins offense must put up a good number against a poor Cleveland arm. No ifs, ands, or butts about it.

This Day In History - 2010: Luke Hughes becomes the fifth player in Twins' history to homer in his first at-bat in the major leagues when he goes deep off Detroit's Max Scherzer in Minnesota's 11-6 loss at Comerica Park. The Australian-born rookie third baseman joins Rick Renick (1968), Dave McKay (1975), Gary Gaetti (1981), and Andre David (1984) in accomplishing the feat.

Vegas Odds: Twins -121, Cleveland +104. O/U is set at 8.5

Pick to Click: Mitch Garver finally connects with a fastball and sends it over the wall.

So by this you mean he finds a strange attachment to a Happ pitch, and decides to toss it the way of a fan sitting near the field?  Because that seems more likely than Garver doing anything productive with a bat in his hands.

I’m hoping YouTube will suggest self help videos for me in case if this game goes haywire again.

May we also suggest these videos:

- Teacher dragging nails across a chalkboard

- People stepping on Legos barefoot

- Joe Theismann's leg breaking on continuous loop

Go Twins!!!

Finally connects with a fastball and fouls it over the wall... the Garver experiment of how well he hits lefties continues and in the heart of the lineup.  Sure hope he puts something in play

I can deal with this ... very unpleasant, but the moment passes as soon as the noise stops

- People stepping on Legos barefoot

You bought them, whether for yourself or your kids ... don't feel sorry for you

- Joe Theismann's leg breaking on continuous loop

No, just no ... that's just cruel punishment, even at the mention, I can't stop cringing

Fair enough, but you also choose to watch/listen/follow the Twins...
