Bunches of hits, as in multiple instances over a small sample size. The Twins are positioning based on a much better indicator of likelihood of hitting.

I didn’t call anyone dumb, I said it’s a dumb argument to make. Dumb/bad/flawed argument/idea =/= dumb /bad/flawed person.

I don’t think the poster is dumb, I think the argument is dumb... not anything to do with the person posting it... didn’t even look at the name of the poster.

If you disagree that it’s a bad and flawed argument... please show me the evidence on the contrary.

How dumb did it look when Arraez and polanco couldn't turn the double play. Shift is working great though. The shift isn't for every hitter but the Twins seem to be currently playing it on every hitter. There are a few hitters that pull most everything, but there are a lot of them that don't and they are still being shifted. It really probably shows that their defense sucks overall, because most of the balls hit into a shift would have been caught by a good fielder anyway. I mean when Soler comes up they don't shift Kepler over to Center and put Buck in Left center. Why not? If all of the hits go that way anyway?

I'd like to see him ditch the 2 seam, go almost exclusively to the 4 seam, and have a better chance of putting it where he wants it.

Split the difference. Seems like a 3 seam fastball would do.

Trade Sano and someone from St. Paul for a starter

*i don’t know what I’m talking about but that’s the trade I’d make if I were a video game GM

I think if the offense keeps struggling into next week Rocco should bring up some fresh bats. Give Rooker or Kirilloff a shot and maybe the fear of losing their roster spot will motivate the guys to step it up.

Well to be fair, most hitters have different spray charts for ground balls and fly balls.

Can we put together an inning for a change?

There will definitely be an inning, just not sure if you’ll like the results

Overall I'm not concerned, but what the h*** is happening?!?!

Mediocre team playing against a bad team in their home ballpark. The Royals always play a good game in Kansas City even in a year like this.

Yes I understand, and the OF will lean one way towards the tendency of the hitter, but the OF never over shifts and leaves one whole side of the OF open like they do in the infield. I mean you could do it to an extreme pull hitter? Stick Kepler in Left center and keep Buxton in center, I mean how far towards the right could he cover anyway? They don't do it, because of the implications of the few times the shift doesn't work. I'm not sure how many runs the Royals would have scored today had the Twins been playing a more traditional defense. I can think of at least two runs that wouldn't have come across. That makes a difference in close games. Doesn't make much of a difference in blowouts. But in close games it does.
