Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 According to Robert Murray, formerly of The Athletic, the Dodgers and Padres are among the teams showing interest in Indians starter Mike Clevinger. Murray adds, however, that the asking price right now is "sky high." Clevinger was limited to 21 starts in 2019 due to back and ankle injuries, but he registered an excellent 2.71 ERA with 169 strikeouts in 126 innings when healthy, and he also had a 3.05 ERA with 344 strikeouts in 321 2/3 innings between 2017-2018. The 28-year-old right-hander is currently under the Indians' control through the 2022 campaign.
KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 The Southsiders re-signed Ross Detwiler, he had a 6.59 ERA in 2019, but don't get too excited, FIP says that's generous clocking in at 6.92. Only a minor league deal though, so he might want to keep that spring training ERA a tad below 6 if he wants to make the club. Just thinking about how a similar re-signing would be received on our site, makes me laugh at what kind of non-sense is going on at White Sox message boards. They probably had similar fun when MN signed Perez to a major league contract last offseason, or when the Twins brought in Anibal Sanchez for a look during spring in a previous year. The Sox are still going after Ryu, and they've already landed Grandal; that fan base is probably a little less agitated than we are at the moment.

zenser Verified Member Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Not that I wanted Teheran, but I wanted him as a fall back if they didnt sign Ryu or Keuchel. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/angels-to-sign-julio-teheran.html
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 19, 2019 Author Posted December 19, 2019 White Sox sign Gio Gonzalez....definitely a step up for their rotation.

Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Yeah with Julio Teheran and Gio Gonzalez off the board, I don’t know who that leaves after Keuchel and Ryu. Homer Bailey maybe. I may be missing one or two. But basically just minor league signings with invitations to camp, those types of guys. But let’s wait until April 15th until we pass judgment.

Justin Smoak signed with the Brewers for $5M. After reading the MLBTR writeup I was yet more convinced that he would have made sense for the Twins at or near that price.
Diesel Verified Member Posted December 21, 2019 Posted December 21, 2019 CJ Cron AND Schoop signed with the tigers. Gonna need something at 1B/3B....

USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted December 22, 2019 Posted December 22, 2019 Keuchel to White Sox, 3/$55, plus vesting 4th yr option. Ryu holds all the cards.

This is an injury proned player Year 1 of 7 and he only played in 59 games and he his bat wasn't what it was the 1st 2 years he was with the Yanks and now he is entering his age 30 season. I will always have a soft spot for Aaron and glad he got paid, but I can't imagine that contract will ever be looked at as a wise investment.

Postseason heroics counts for something to plenty of fans.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2019 Author Posted December 23, 2019 Cleveland signing a 2B to fill one of their holes...... Anyone that thinks they are shutting it down this year isn't looking at what they've actually done.....
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted December 23, 2019 Posted December 23, 2019 7 always seemed like too much, but maybe they could peanut butter the costs better that way.Yup. It's 7 years, but it's an unusual 7 year deal. $10 mil a year? With only 1 arb year? Hicks doesn't have to do *that* much to be worth that deal from the Yankees. He could even get cut or salary dumped the last couple years and still be worth it, overall.
Danchat Verified Member Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 Kole Calhoun is getting a 2 year, $14M deal with the D-Backs.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 Kole Calhoun is getting a 2 year, $14M deal with the D-Backs. This doesn't seem like a team that is folding up for the year, and will trade their pitching.......
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2019 Posted December 24, 2019 1 year deal with 2 player options tied to it.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 24, 2019 Author Posted December 24, 2019 Anyone that thinks the Mets are trading away great pitchers right now is crazy.
