Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 Blake Trienen 1/$10 million to the Dodgers per everyone on the Twitter machine.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted December 11, 2019 Posted December 11, 2019 That is madness - 2.0 WAR isn't great, and we are talking the last 2 seasons combined. I think you are looking at the last two lines in the table at B-Ref, but they're both 2019 as he was traded midseason -- Roark had 1.6 WAR with Cincinnati, and 0.4 for Oakland after the trade.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 12, 2019 Author Posted December 12, 2019 I think the Yankees are finally back into spending for a few reasons: 1. The Red Sox are down.2. No one else in the AL looks great, as Houston is down Cole and the Central teams don't scare them, and the Angels have no pitching.3, They have always wanted Cole. It looks like the Yankees could be quite good this year, with Severino there for a full year....
Danchat Verified Member Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Martin Perez gets a $6M deal with Boston with an option for 2021 worth $6.5M. Doesn't seem like he earned a raise from his $3M salary last year. I guess the Red Sox will take their turn trying to unlock Perez's untapped potential... good luck!

Danchat Verified Member Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Like how? Why?It’s baffling how the Red Sox offseason so far has just been signing Perez and Jose Peraza for $9M.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 It’s baffling how the Red Sox offseason so far has just been signing Perez and Jose Peraza for $9M.Which suggests they're not actually that desperate to cut salary! Unless/until they want to sign someone bigger.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2019 Author Posted December 13, 2019 Like how? Why? I thought he'd get a minor league deal.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 It's fair to say Martín Pérez had an uneven season with the Twins -- but overall, he was basically a league-average starter, by FIP and xFIP, just as he was a few times with the Rangers prior to 2018. And he's still only 29 years old next year. I'm a little surprised he got a raise over 2019, of course, but it's only about $2.1 mil more, considering the 2019 incentives he earned.

And I like the Bumgarner and the Dodgers mutual interest rumor too. Because my guy is Rich Hill and Rich Hill said he's most interested in pitching for the Dodgers or Red Sox, so I hope those cities end up with no room left at the inn.
Musk21 Community Moderator Posted December 13, 2019 Posted December 13, 2019 Tampa Bay is signing LF/3B Yo****omo Tsutsugo for 2 years, $12 million (plus a $2.4 million posting fee).

I like him too, but that's a tough arrangement, after we already signed Pineda.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted December 15, 2019 Author Posted December 15, 2019 Looks like TX is serious! Corey Kluber.....
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Looks like TX is serious! Corey Kluber..... They got him for almost nothing, basically a salary dump. The MLB consensus must be that Kluber is done as a top-of-rotation starter.

bird Verified Member Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Eagerly awaiting to hear how this is spun as "The Twins don't need to spend this offseason...." Such nonsense. "The Twins were offered Kluber for Ryne Harper and LaMonte Wade Jr. Kluber is back to Cy Young form, there's absolutely no doubt about that. But the Twins just won't part with prospects, and besides, they're too cheap to pay for a sure-fire Ace like Kluber." That more like it for your taste?
Diesel Verified Member Posted December 15, 2019 Posted December 15, 2019 Bumgarner to the Diamondbacks. If the Twins don’t get Ryu now, they’ll have to trade for someone big (like Kluber). This fan base won’t be happy otherwise.Edit: deal was for 80-90 million. That seems extremely reasonable.

I hope they do trade, but they better aim higher than Kluber, who looked pretty terrible when he pitched last year.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 16, 2019 Posted December 16, 2019 Avisail Garcia just got 2/20M from the Brewers. With Ozuna and Castellanos still unsigned, this should be pretty encouraging news for anyone who had a mind to flip Eddie Rosario.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 I kept meaning to link MLBTR for the Twins interest in Japanese starter/reliever Shun Yamaguchi, but apparently I was too late -- he's signed with the Blue Jays for 2 years, $6 mil apparently: https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2019/12/blue-jays-reportedly-pursuing-deal-with-shun-yamaguchi.html
cardsfan Verified Member Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 The Cardinals signed South Korean Kwang Kim to a 2 year contract worth $8 million. He will be 32 in July. It says he has an 87 Mph slider. Is that good?
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted December 18, 2019 Posted December 18, 2019 The Southsiders re-signed Ross Detwiler, he had a 6.59 ERA in 2019, but don't get too excited, FIP says that's generous clocking in at 6.92. Only a minor league deal though, so he might want to keep that spring training ERA a tad below 6 if he wants to make the club. Just thinking about how a similar re-signing would be received on our site, makes me laugh at what kind of non-sense is going on at White Sox message boards.
tvagle Verified Member Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Another hole to fill on the Twins extended roster sheet Looks like a new caddy for Buxton will be needed as Ian Miller is off to Wrigley well more likely Des Moines (if they still have a minor league team there) Took me an hour to find the non-Twins-off-season forum
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted December 19, 2019 Posted December 19, 2019 Took me an hour to find the non-Twins-off-season forum If you ever have difficulties like this again, or other site navigation and 'how to' questions, you can always ask a moderator ... either by PM, or in the Questions forum. But since finding the Questions forum might take 2 hours, here's a link: http://twinsdaily.com/forum/13-questions-about-minncentric/ Mostly it's just ... click on 'Forums', then keep scrolling down ... there's more to the site than just Twins ML and Twins MiL forums here.
