Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Smeltzer gonna eat up some innings for us, for... reasons.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 This has nothing to do with managerial moves. NOTHING We could Casey Stengel on that bench and it wouldn't matter so I don't want to hear about leaving in guys too long or pulling them too quickly. Nobody is getting the job doneCorrect. 100% correct
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Correct. 100% correctYet you question my comment on a managerial move?
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Smeltzer getting squeezed in a 7 run game. GFYS blue
glunn Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Come on Twins...better late than never?Maybe you can be our lucky charm, Mr. Ant. We need one.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I'm not satisfied with the post season failures, but I'm not going to jump off a cliff because they didn't win the World Series. But thats not the point at all. We aren't jumping off the cliff...we are simply disappointed that this team is incapable of taking it to the next level. but if you're satisfied, I;m not criticizing you. Afterall there are a whole lot of teams not playing at all right now. And we are.We just are not playing at all like a team that won 101 games and the Yanks ARE playing like the team that won 103. Simple.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Even Smeltzer, down 7, is getting squeezed.
insagt1 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Nats pitch Strasburg in game 2, Dodgers Kershaw, Astros Cole, Tampa Snell....... and we get an Uber driver. It really is like a sit com.Pineda plays a part in this. Hard to forgive him...especially the way this has come unraveled.

Simple. Not making the playoffs is certainly preferable to a performance like this. I’ve seen more playoff losses in my 32 years than I would ever care to see. 4-23 since I started watching. Getting embarrassed on a national level again doesn’t make me proud to be a fan.
glunn Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Even Smeltzer, down 7, is getting squeezed.I am now in favor of the robot umps. This series has put me over the top on that issue.
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Pineda plays a part in this. Hard to forgive him...especially the way this has come unraveled. But without that banned substance, and whatever the reasons he was taking it, does he perform at that level? Some of us think not.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Correct. 100% correctIt is true. No Twins pitcher has risen to the occasion.
Don Walcott Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 But without that banned substance, and the reasons he was taking it, does he perform at that level? Some of us think not.His best stretch of starts was while his appeal was pending — and he could not have been assisted by past use of a diarretic during that stretch.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Grand Slam to Didi Gregorius.....still digesting that one, again.

sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 I got nothin. And plenty of it. I don't think we can reverse jinx ourselves out of an 8-1 deficit. But i won't give up as the game is less than half over.

insagt1 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 But without that banned substance, and whatever the reasons he was taking it, does he perform at that level? Some of us think not.Guess we';ll never know. but how could he have been worse at this point? Our hitters and our injuries are making the lousy pitching a moot point too. Tanaka is good, but not that good. These have been some of the ugliest AB;'s of the season. When Eddie banged into that DP in the first, it set the tone.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 You should be proud to be a fan.Actually i realized what I said was dumb. it’s kinda dumb to be proud to be a fan. You don’t hit or run or throw or manage. I should have said it’s embarrassing to be a fan when they play this way. They don’t give out trophies for being the 22nd team eliminated
insagt1 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Grand Slam to Didi Gregorius.....still digesting that one, again.recall how he killed us in that 14-12 mess. Sometimes some hitters just love facing certain teams. Yanks love facing us...these Yanks, Yanks of years past, doesn't matter. Hard to explain because you can't, but Twins just can't beat this team.

You became a fan in the middle of the 2002 Oakland series?
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Just tossing some nitro on the bonfire, think it's possible the Yankee hitters are comfortable laying off close pitches because they know they'll get the call?I wouldn’t rule it out. I know it makes me sound like a conspiracy theorist, but hey, I lived through most of the Bobby Knight / Assembly Hall era.
howeda7 Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 If Strasburg opts out let's sign him too!The Twins are capable of signing a big-time FA if they choose. I'm not saying we will. We'll probably be the little engine that could forever.
shimrod Verified Member Posted October 5, 2019 Posted October 5, 2019 Just tossing some nitro on the bonfire, think it's possible the Yankee hitters are comfortable laying off close pitches because they know they'll get the call? History shows they don't even have to play to cover the foul lines...if it lands within 3 feet of the foul line they'll get that call too.
