I'm not so sure about Perez in the pen. Maybe, but walks are the last thing you want out of a reliever, and his splits aren't good pitching from the stretch.

 

So bringing him into an I nong with runners on seems like trouble.

and by "I nong" I meant inning.

But... He has stuff and we need someone with stuff and a left hand in the pen.  :)

Strangely enough, walk rates with relievers (last I checked at least) were up pretty significantly league wide. I'm not disagreeing in that I'd prefer to see those limited, but it seems the league has moved to high K low contact guys and don't mind a few walks as a side effect.

Yes - if not for all of the extra outs the Rangers have given us Lynn would be well on his way to 5-6 innings and looking like he'd shut us out.

Last I checked all of our relievers have a left hand.

maybe that's one reason last I looked reliever ERA was higher than starter ERA for the first time in my lifetime.

I still find it impressive that he managed to have a big league career... I know it wasn't his pitching hand he was missing, but still...
