Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 The one upside here is that Odorizzi is a considerably better pitcher than Happ. We'll see if that matters one bit in just over two hours. It's been about 4 hours at this point.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 You're not going to get more than ~50 pitches out of him, maybe 60, tops. That should get them through the seventh, at best. Why is 60 his limit (genuinely asking)
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 I have a hard time conceding games when the second place team is about to catch you in the standings
HawksNest Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Honestly not even that worked up about it. Team puts up a 2 spot in the bottom of the first, Jake then proceeds to give up 9 runs on 100 pitches in 4 innings. Just pathetic, really at a time when the team needs him the most
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Why is 60 his limit (genuinely asking)He pitched on Saturday, I think, so he's going on somewhat short rest. Also, he's Devon Smeltzer. You don't want to just toss every egg you have in that basket unless absolutely necessary.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Lost in all this, 7 K in 4 IP for Odorizzi.
TribeAZ13 Provisional Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 It does. After the Royals: AstrosAngelsRangers@MinnesotaBoston@Yankees That takes them through the middle of August. Good luck with that, kids. Three weeks without a facing a single team under .500 as of today.im sure tribe nation appreciates ur words of sincerity..but i think they will be fine. winning record against every one of those teams, 4 game split with houston and 2-4 vs twins...but moreso indians have won more games post all star break over the last 5 years than any team in mlb...getting Kluber and Cookie back will be nice too.. anything can happen in baseball tho..bieber failed big time today, couldnt even get a perfect game. #5thstarter
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Had to let Jake finish the inning. You aren't winning this game, so no reason to pull him. Smeltzer will give us three innings. Torres 2, and May one. We will have two more pitchers up here tomorrow, probably Poppen and Romero. That's BS. Professional teams should never give up. Ever. It was 6-3 and that is winnable. Baldelli is giving up. And I despise that.
Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Why is 60 his limit (genuinely asking)Smeltzer started Saturday, so is on short rest (3 days)?
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Well, at this point last night the Twins were up by 6 so turnabout is fair play, right? I said, am I right?
ashbury Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 NICE first inning for Jake.It is starting to sink in that I may have to take the blame for the jinx tonight.

That's, uh... *quick math* Not awesome.
Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Ah, pardon me, I forgot to list Ehire among the available pitchers.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 10 hits, 2 walks, 9 earned in 4. Hey..... his K ratio is super with 7! Lost in all this, 7 K in 4 IP for Odorizzi. not totally......

Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 If this holds, the twins would be 12-12 in their last 24 home games. Yeesh

bighat Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Unforgivable effort by the Twins pitching staff this series. Today is the worst of the bunch, but they were all terrible. The Twins look like they need to trade for 4 starters and 4 relievers right now if they want to have any chance at winning a playoff series. Extremely disappointed!
HawksNest Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 30 earned runs in his last 33 innings pitched for Odo.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Ah, perhaps shouldn’t have just packed it in last inning, Roc
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Baldelli is playing the hand he was dealt. It’s short a few cards.Playing solitaire with a deck of 51, so to speak.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Baldelli is playing the hand he was dealt. It’s short a few cards. See..... if Baldelli doesn't give up, it could have been 6-5 right now. Never give up!!!!!!
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Fun fact: on Monday Gregorius was batting .252. He is now at .290.

KirbyDome89 Verified Member Posted July 25, 2019 Posted July 25, 2019 Dick needs to quit whining about last night... Seriously, we get it. It's not a great look to cry about a single missed strike in the previous game while Yankee hitters currently continue to destroy Twins pitching.
Marek Houston Wichita Wind Surge - AA SS On Saturday, Houston went 3-for-5 and scored two runs. After a short slump, he is now back over .290 on the season. Explore Marek Houston News >
