Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Mike Fiers looked like toast the first month+ of the season. The A's have been rewarded for their patience. He's pitched to a 2.09 ERA and held opponents to a .541 OPS over his last dozen starts. It’s almost like it’s a long season
Jham Verified Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 T minus how many days till all the "don't panic" know it alls tell everyone "the Indians were supposed to win the division, the Twins were really only supposed to be a mid 80 wins type team anyway. So you can't really be mad that the Twins are going to miss three playoffs." I give it 1 month.
tvagle Verified Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Nice I clicked on the link and now I got the banner adds. I fall for that trick every time. There is no "I" in gullible but there is a "U"

Bandit34 Provisional Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Well, I have been on this site for a while now and have not bothered to create an account. But this year's team has finally gotten me to chime in. I have been a Twins fan since I was 8 years old in 1991. I have gone through some bad times especially in the 90s. I must agree with Aggies7. I thought this team was the real deal this year. Now, they might turn it around this year but I just have to say what a gutless performance tonight after a disgraceful game yesterday. Will be following the remainder of the game however.

Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Honestly glad it wasn’t overturned. Plays like that should not be overturned. Even if it helps us.MLB has to make some changes to replay, but I don't know what exactly. Stuff like that was not at the heart of why they started it. That play still needs to be challengeable, but maybe they should just make it clear to managers it's not getting overturned unless it's incredibly obvious the guy was off the bag? Again, I'm not sure what the solution is, I just am not a fan of the current system.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Ugh I work with an Indians fan and I made the mistake of telling him it was over haha

We still had a big lead but those of us that watch every game could see something was different or missing with this team. The good thing though is that it is a long season. Teams, even really, really, good ones go through multi-week stretches of bad play. Hope we can pull out of it.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Apparently the ruling was that one molecule of one spike was touching one molecule of the base. I've been watching this sport for a long time. Baseball is truly a game of molecules.

David HK Verified Member Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 Even with that unfortunate homer, Gibby still turns in a quality start. Still a lotta game left, let's go, boys, our starter is battling, get them bats going, too.

If you try and break it down by a single pixel to see if a spike is on the base, no, sorry. The throw beat the runner by a mile. It was a tailor made DP

Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 19, 2019 Posted July 19, 2019 What were the 4 layers? It was a lemon cake with a raspberry cream filling in between the layers; then there was a lemon frosting around the sides, with more raspberry cream on top with fresh berries.

Again, I'm not sure what the solution is, I just am not a fan of the current system. My preference is to give the benches no extra time to decide. No 30 seconds. Just those few seconds before the next batter comes up or whatever, and that’s all the time you have. That should help keep the challenged to the obvious missed calls, which is supposed to be the spirit of replay anyway.
