Blake Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Because we're winding down into the All Star break, I thought today would be a good day to look back. With a quick Google Search, I came up with some stuff that will allow me to escape the rigors of putting together a real game thread and, instead, dine off the work of others, while taking credit for my complete lack of inspiration. Without further ado, here goes: 1687 Isaac Newton's great work PRINCIPIA published by Royal Society in England. Outlines his laws of motion and universal gravitation. *How we got Launch angle, spin rate, WHIP and WHIP. 1904 NY Giants 18-game winning streak ends as Phillies win 6-5 in 10 innings at Huntington Park *I'm going to defer to Chief on this one. His knowledge of the event is probably contemporary, unlike mine. The Twins final stop, before taking a break, one that appears to be much needed, is Texas. It seems the Twins are doing a good job of catching teams on the upswing while they're currently running just a bit flat. Personally, I think these teams are catching fire just long enough to bother the Twins, then flame out, while the Twins will catch their breath and take the rest of the season by storm. This team has been very good so far this year and I'm sticking with they'll continue to thrill and chill fans. *no real reason, just thought this was cool. No for some random and possibly related baseball thoughts: 1. All Star Break approaches!2. Two Twins were voted into the All Star game!3. May various players on the Twins take a well deserved break and come back better, stronger, faster!4. Pitching for the Twins: Martin Perez Pitching for Texas: Adrian Sampson Lineup for the Twins: 1. Max Kepler (L) RF2. Jorge Polanco (S) SS3. Nelson Cruz ® DH4. Mitch Garver ® C5. Marwin Gonzalez (S) LF6. C.J. Cron ® 1B7. Luis Arraez (L) 3B8. Jonathan Schoop ® 2B9. Byron Buxton ® CF Lineup for TX: Tabula Rasa 5. Play Ball!

PDX Twin Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Isn't this one in Minnesota? There are probably a few ticket holders having a panic attack right now after reading your title.
SpicyGarvSauce Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Biggest game of the season. The. Biggest.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Author Posted July 5, 2019 Isn't this one in Minnesota? There are probably a few ticket holders having a panic attack right now after reading your title.I'm the one having the panic attack! You're correct, I've got it wrong. I'll ask a mod to fix, though, knowing them, they'll point and laugh. Rightfully so, I might add.
Nine of twelve Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 Based on the radar I think it's unlikely this game starts on time.
VATwinsFan Verified Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 This weekend would be a very nice time for Cron to get a few RBIs and maybe a HR or two.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted July 5, 2019 Posted July 5, 2019 I always want the Twins to win. Duh! But I really, really want this series. I don't think we are firing on all cylinders right now, but I don't think we are playing badly either. I think playing some decent teams, on the road, with a couple really long games, the team is just a little tired right now. Really want a strong finish for the first half and then a rest. Perez looked good last time out. Go Twins and WIN!
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Danny Santana - is having a great year for texas, in left field tonight, good for him
mrtwinsfan Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Laudner in the booth with Bremer- anyone but roy smalley
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Based on the radar I think it's unlikely this game starts on time. The delay will give me a chance to watch the end of ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.’
terrydactyls Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Spoiler Alert - Wonka wins in Extra Innings.
Blake Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Author Posted July 6, 2019 Laudner in the booth with Bremer- anyone but roy smalleyI've been looking forward to Laudner. Hopefully, he still has that edge he demonstrated a few years ago when he suggested the pitcher needs to go down and in again after a batter fouls one of those off his shin.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Biggest game of the season. The. Biggest. The all star game? Nah, it is not that big...
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 The delay will give me a chance to watch the end of ‘Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory.’Not to be confused with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. Don't let Slugworth get your gobstopper!
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 So, future radar seems to indicate the rain lasting until well after 9. Might be looking at two tomorrow.
Squirrel Community Moderator Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Not to be confused with Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.Don't let Slugworth get your gobstopper!I didn’t give it to him. And I’m still working on it!
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 I didn’t give it to him. And I’m still working on it!Gobstoppers were one of few candies that would last through a movie for me. I am a little sad they are smaller these days.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Oh... Rain delay is over. I guess i can stop work on the ark for a bit...
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Is the audio going up and down for anyone else?
howeda7 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 The Kepler leading off experiment is no longer working. Move Buxton to lead off. Kepler to 3rd.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 We are grounding into a lot of double plays lately... good thing we got Garver in before that happened.
MNT1996 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Man if Arraez develops some more power he could be a potential future MVP candidate
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 ARIIIIIIIISE!! What a diamond in the rough pickup this kid has been.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Sigh.Another homer. As expected.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 The Kepler leading off experiment is no longer working. Move Buxton to lead off. Kepler to 3rd.Kepler has an obp 25 points higher than Buxton. The only player with a lower obp than Byron is Schoop. The only ones higher than Kepler are Cruz, Polanco and Garver. Garver sometimes does lead off vs lhp. Cruz isn’t going to lead off. Polanco is ideally suited for the two spot. Which brings us back to Kepler. No, he isn’t an ideal or “tradtional” lead off man. He has been (at least from my research) quite prone to extreme hot and cold patches. But he is nevertheless the best candidate for the job IMO.
TwinsCD Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Right after Laudner observes that they're just trying to hit it hard and not out of the park, Buxton gets that double. This inning is the type of inning they've needed to have for a while -- string those hits together.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 6, 2019 Posted July 6, 2019 Schoop and Buxton with back to back 2 out doubles. Was that an ordinary double or a Buxton only double? Just checking updates...
