Richie the Rally Goat Community Moderator Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I dunno. Buxton is currently tied for 2nd on the team in games played with 20. Only Rosario (21) has more. While I'd prefer to see Bux in there, I don't think the benching is outrageous. I don’t really get the outrage either, but I do feel compelled to note the many off days thus far. Fine to give Buck a breather, esp if it helps keep him on the field more/keeps the migraine down.
h2oface Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I wish Castro would quit having Stewart throw the ball so far off the plate.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Stewart doing his best Duffey impersonation. Twins radio broadcast called it, not sure if anyone heard the call there.
wavedog Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 No shortage of walks and wild pitches this year. Wheels have come off too many times.
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Castro's fault. He calls the game.He called for four out of the zone? Must be some graduate-level Framing going on there.

jkcarew Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 To be fair, Verlander was drafted twice as high as was Stewart.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Marwin now 0-for-9 in the series. 0-for-15 going back to the double-header in Baltimore. Batting .150. If anyone needed a break today, it was Marwin I think.
operation mindcrime Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 We can end the Kohl Stewart experiment at any point.Too bad it didn't end during the Rule 5 draft!
Yawn Gardenhose Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I remember Buxton’s major league debut. It was at home vs. Detroit. Batting lead-off for the Twins and facing Verlander, everyone was excited to see their “savior,” as he was finally in the majors. It didn’t go very well! Buxton struck out in his first 3 plate appearances, and looked helpless against the Detroit ace. Don’t believe he had ever seen a major league slider before!Don’t know if he is getting rested tonight, but it seems like it might be a good idea to avoid a repeat of history. You got Buxton mixed up with Aaron Hicks, who whiffed 3 times in his debut against Verlander on Opening Day 2013. https://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/MIN/MIN201304010.shtml

MMMordabito Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I just want to see some Romero action. Might as well get a look at a couple guys before Astudillo comes in.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I can't say I'm surprised Stewart's given up 5 runs. He's a non-prospect facing a deadly lineup, so it could have been worse.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Castro and adrianza against verlander have gone about how you’d expect them to

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 I do believe somebody mentioned to Stewart the mind-numbing slow tempo of his previous innings. Good. Get on with it, Kohl!

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 That's more like it. Don't take ten minutes to mull over every pitch! Get on with it, Stewart! Got the sign yet? Toed the rubber yet? Why do you still have the baseball??
ashbury Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 oh, that was your attempt at humor?Careful, I might have to unleash a Carnac routine to demonstrate how bad it really can be, if you kids can't keep from squabbling.

Otto von Ballpark Old-Timey Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Marwin now 0-for-9 in the series.Have to keep playing him, though, to show Houston what they're missing!

'Twas me. Yeah good grief Stewart - just throw the ball down the middle and let 'em hit. The game's over, the audition failed...now let's just get this thing moving.
bighat Verified Member Posted April 25, 2019 Posted April 25, 2019 Hey, I wonder if Kohl Stewart's next pitch is going to be very low and very outside?
