Why wouldn’t Verlander be throwing a perfect game?

Why wouldn't Buxton be in the lineup? Insane really unless there is a reason I don't know.

Polanco once again showing the rest of the team how to play a little baseball! Love this kid.

Aw, now see, you jinxed him.

Verlander is the best pitcher ever.  Never, ever, ever gives up home runs or a double...He's a sure thing.

Just giving him some rest, according to D n' B.

25 year old athletes in the best shape of their life...... need lots of rest.

Not feeling great about Stewart keeping this lead at 2, but that's why they play the game.

Cron looks a lot like Buxton swinging at those sliders. He is right handed and playing against Verlander. He doesn't get tired. 29 year olds are tough.

Yep, but the quiz above might prove the rules are a bit pliable

http://m.mlb.com/glossary/rules/field-dimensions

Pliable, indeed. E.g. "The rulebook [sic] states that parks constructed by professional teams after June 1, 1958, must have a minimum distance of 325 feet between home plate and the nearest fence, stand or other obstruction on the right- and left-field foul lines, and 400 feet between home plate and the nearest fence, stand or other obstruction in center field. However, some clubs have been permitted to construct parks after that date with dimensions shorter than those specified."

The Juice Box and Tropicrapa both have 315 feet left field fences ...

Leadoff walk right after the Twins get one back.

Is that kind of thing based on nerves, lack of control, or just a lack of understanding the basics of baseball?

Castro's fault. He calls the game.

Yankee opened in 2009. Both left and right are way short

Dimensions: Left field: 318 feet; left-center: 399 feet; center field: 408 feet; right-center: 385 feet; right field: 314 feet.

I dunno. Buxton is currently tied for 2nd on the team in games played with 20. Only Rosario (21) has more. While I'd prefer to see Bux in there, I don't think the benching is outrageous.

I'm guessing the Yankees sighted their old ballpark dimensions in their proposal and were "grandfathered in" regarding the distances.

Also it makes complete sense to bench Buxton the moment we demote Cave.

Let's send down Willians next, and ask Ehire if he wouldn't mind filling in at catcher so that both Mitch and Jason can have a much-needed day off.

Stewart needs to speed up his tempo a lot, like Houston's pitcher on Tuesday. An athletic guy should get an advantage from a quicker tempo. Right now it looks like he's spending too much time mulling over his options. Just get the ball, step on the rubber, take the sign, and pitch. If nothing else, his fielders will be able to stay awake...along with the fans.
