I'm just saying Pineda gave up 4 runs in 5 innings and supposedly he is a seasoned vet. I guess he won't be round long either.

Unfortunately he will. Because they have no other options. I hope to be wrong about the unfortunately part.

Thats just it he is supposedly our second best pitcher so if you don't like what Kohl did tonight then it has to be hard to stomach what the Twins are going to throw out there 4 out of 5 games.  Might as well stop watching right now.

There will be good performances still. At least Pineda can miss a bat. And I don't watch, too cheap to pay for it.

I agree and I bet Kohl can do better against the Indians, or Royals or some other teams than a stacked Houston lineup.

Yeah. Teams like the Braves have a 21 year-old kid (Soroka) who got the W tonight vs. Cincy...and this is his 2nd year in the bigs. And it's not just ATL, lots of teams have regular starters playing at age 21, 22, etc. Position players like Soto in Washington and Acuna are both 21 and are entering their 2nd seasons. Rafael Devers is 22 entering his 3rd year in Boston. Adalberto Mondesi was playing with the Royals in the World Series at age 20.

Twins system doesn't do that. Either it's an organizational policy or poor drafting.

When I read all those bigraphies as a kid growing up in the sixties.... they all started, or many, and big stars of the time, too.... young 20-21-22.... and played for 20 years many of them, into their early 40's.

I hope not. If it would have been up to me, he never would have been around. Besides, he is already round enough.

I got the impression that development of players had failed during Ryan’s tenure, hence his termination. It takes more than a couple off seasons to remake an organization and get the players developed and to the bigs. That being said, Falvey and Lavine still need to produce winning mlb teams.

It is like this game was played and managed to not compete from the get go. That is a real F U to the fans.

I agree. They got what they wanted though.  Two guys they can send down and they didn't have to use a starter or the pen tonight.  Plan is to try and win the series against the O's.

Yep. Playing the long game for sure. Tonight's game felt like a sacrifice before it even started. Adrianza, Castro, etc.

To Adrianza's credit, dude got a hit off Verlander.

I think at some point the Twins are going to have to start putting Astudillo in at 3B or Catcher at least 5 times per week. That means Gonzalez and Castro lose playing time. They don't deserve it.

Here's hoping Sano is just practicing that swing like crazy and eating heart-healthy lettuce wraps every night. He comes back healthy, Gonzalez goes into a true backup role and gets 2-3 starts per week max.

Might as well have rested Buxton, since the game was a forfeit anyway. I'm headed back to the Twin Cities next week, think I'll be able to see the Astros in person at Target Field on Monday or Tuesday!

Sure, but I don't consider either of those performances to be doing their job.

It's okay to say someone didn't get it done tonight, let's hope he's better next time.

I agree he didn't look that great last night, my definition of good job was different than yours. By doing his job I was more referring to the fact he went 6 innings against a tough lineup.  He was one bad inning away from a quality start.  He did not seem to have good command and was hit hard at times but he made it through 6 and all the starters on the pitching staff got a day off which will hopefully help us the next series.

OK, I didn’t see the game, but it appears that in other parks, the home runs the Astro’s hit would have been outs. Since the stadium was built, I have disliked Enron/Minute Maid and considered it a bandbox. Am I off base on this one?

315 to left is 5 feet short of what is supposed to be minimum standard. By comparison, RF is about the same at Minute Maid as Target Field, but LF is 25 feet longer at Target Field.
