Dream Manager Candidates: Ozzie, Dougie Baseball . . .

I know Falvine are never going to bring in another old-school manager.   But how fun it would be to have Ozzie and Gardie go at it again - Or Dougie bursting a gasket.  Until the interviews start, and the boring reality sets in, we can dream.

To each their own, but this is my personal nightmare  :)

Top Candidates (from what I perceive to be the Twins perspective)

Jeff Banister - Has a 1.000 career batting average in the MLB. Two division titles in his three full years of managing. Turned the Rangers from 67-95 to division champs in one year. The Twins front office knows him, helped hire him in TX, share his ideas of numbers-solving-everything, and like him.

Charlie Montoyo - AAA managerial experience, Rays bench coach. Analytics-wired, likes trying new things (such as openers).

Consolation Prize Candidates

Hensley Muelens - One of the many finalists for the last Yankees managerial job on this list.

Joe Espada - Has a nice slice of coaching experience and is a good hitting coach.

Chris Woodward - He could fall to the Twins if the above names pass on managing in MN. People feel he will manage someday, but he might not be ready yet.

Rob Thomson - Why not. His name will come up in any managerial conversation for the next few years. If the Twins want to follow the Vikings and pick up the "Candidate in every conversation" and have their own Brad Childress, here he is.

I want a more-or-less fluently bilingual manager, doesn’t matter to me what culture or ethnicity they identify as. This seems like it should be a given for any MLB managerial position for the past, idk, quarter century. Communication is absolutely crucial to the role.

I think "Hensley Meulens" was the first time I ever had a name obsession. During my brief baseball card collecting phase, I had a whole page of his rookie cards. This was probably due more to his cool name than his statistical profile. Ah, those were simple times, when the Yankees had sucked so long I didn't even dislike them.

I speak English and Norwegian, does that make me eligible?

I'm lovin' that idea!  Lol's...

I would love to see Ozzie in the Twinks dugout, like he should have been 4 yrs ago.

I hate the Sox with an abiding passion bordering on lunacy, but 2 guys I would have loved to see on the Twinks side in those days were him and Buehrle. So bummed when he went to the BJ's after his Sox daze; I was disappointed the Twinks didn't make a play for him, so he could stick it to the Sox a few times per year. So get Ozzie in the dugout, and make Buehrle the pitching coach, and we're on our way!
