Look, I don't want to be that 'hindsight' guy, but I wasn't clamoring for Gonsalves to come up for multiple reasons. I still think he can be an MLB pitcher but he needs a lot of work, and hopefully he'll get better after taking some lumps, like virtually all Twins rookie pitchers within the last 7-8 years (not named Duffey).

Fun way for Busenitz to return to the big leagues.  Heck of a job, though.  That keeps Gonsalves' first ERA in double digits anyway.

I hope Gonsalves can shake this off before his next start.  He didn't show great stuff tonight, though he did have some good pitches.

Man, Gonsalves needs to have really good location and pitch sequences with his stuff. He couldn't throw it into the ocean from a boat tonight. Hopefully that improves.

It's hard to evaluate his potential due to his inability to hit his spots tonight, but it looks like he has a pretty good curve, cutter, and change. You could see righties struggling with that cutter. Having an out pitch against righties is huge for a lefty. Hopefully he can do a better job of commanding his pitches next time out so we can see what he can do.

Which ones were those? Just kidding, I feel terrible for the kid. Reminded me of duffeys start in Toronto

The ground ball and bloop hit I can chalk up to poor luck. The rocket triple to lead off the inning, the HBP, the two walks, and the line drive double down the line...on him. He could have easily been out of the inning with no runs scored? Yeah, no.

There was no triple that inning, except in the imagination of the official scorer. Delmonico was loafing as he rounded first base, until he noticed Kepler farting around with the ball at the wall.

But I acknowledged that double at the outset - no one's fault except Stephen's, until the runner wound up on third that is.

The HBP was a bounced pitch and the batter was over the line of the batter's box. I'm not sure of the legality but it seems like it could have been called dead ball. In any case the inning is shaped by the bounce of the ball on that PA.

By the time of the next double, the one past Sano, the inning could have been over with.

I think we are seeing why the FO was reluctant to call up pitching prospects earlier. Now, as a result of Gonsalves very short start, the Twins will likely be forced into a roster move to bring in a fresh arm or two.

Probably true, but they should still see how their game translates to the bigs at some point. Considering the veterans they've brought in, they're probably better served seeing what they've got in house. That's especially true now, which I realize is not what you were referring to.

Quite the tangeant Dick was on there with soap operas. Didn't think I'd hear about any of those tonight.

I noticed the same thing about the hbp. Can you step over that line and get hit? Why was there no protest?

My understanding is that it's a dead ball since he'd be outside of the box. Nobody saw it apparently.

In case I had any lingering hopes for Cave in CF, watching him lumber around the bases had me thinking, corner outfielder. :)

(Ohhh, he wasn't that bad, but I expected him to score even easier than he did. Still getting to know him.)

But let's hang it around Gonsalves's neck anyway. :)

The announcers just got done using statcast to talk about how fast Cave went around the bases. And they said it was fast.

Are you suggesting there was a better tool to use than statcast? :)

Beauty is in the eye of the beerholder.

And bee-stings are in the hand of the bee-holder.
