  1. I don't care what the numbers say about him having a "down year", he's still able to bat .270+ and work the count full as much as anyone in the game. He's the best two strike hitter I've personally ever witnessed and his RISP speaks for itself. Not to mention, how is it even possible to spank the ball to the opposite field as often as he does? I know we're heading in a different direction with younger players and would like to see Austin or Rooker stick at first but I don't think either of them will provide as much production as Mauer. He's as solid on defense as they come and I still wholeheartedly believe he was robbed of a gold glove last year. Dudes still an animal on the diamond. Maybe, since he's been paid handsomely already by the Twins, he will come back for a year or two on a dirt cheap contract and provide us with some flexibility. Would love to see him back and that's coming from a big Tyler Austin/Brent Rooker guy. Go Joe.
  2. Great outing for Busenitz. Love his fastball and his curve looked fantastic those couple batters.
  3. Am I the only person that thinks Kohl Stewarts "stuff" blows Gonsalves "stuff" out of the water?
  4. Horrendous pinch run decision. Ouch.
  5. I've actually thought the same thing. Clearly given all the starts he's had this year, something has to change. This is literally insane what's going on with Odorizzi.
  6. Just absolutely disgusting, to be honest, though I'd never cheer for a Twin to perform poorly, Odorizzi needed those runs tacked on to his ERA. I truly don't know if he's a guy we can throw all season long next year. It literally pains me to watch him pitch no matter how "smooth" of an inning he has. Disgusting.
  7. Spoke too soon, don't worry I was in the same boat.....
  8. Would you look at that, the beauty of attacking the strike zone! Still threw 16 pitches but at least it wasn't as ugly as the 20+ pitch innings we're used to. Great inning from him.
  9. Odorizzi with possibly the best game plan I've seen from a starting pitcher - get behind as many hitters as you possibly can with a 2-0 or 3-0 count and work back from there. Sneaky little fella.
  10. He doesn't hit Mahtook in the third inning while he's ahead in the count 1-2 and he probably has a very good chance of getting out of the inning giving up no runs. I don't think he pitched that bad. A ton of swing and misses tonight from the Tigers and if he locates just a tiny bit better in the third he probably pitches at least 5/6 innings this game (depending on how the heart of the lineup looked the third time through). Patience - and I think we have a 4/5 rotation starter for quite some time.
  11. Field DFA per Berardino. Now optioned (edit).
  12. That's my thing. There are plenty of people capable of going 0-10000 (roughly) like Field and company, let's give some young pieces who can actually be with the team in the future a chance. Hell I'd be more than happy to go out there and strike out 20 times in a row if that's what they're looking for. SIGN ME UP.
  13. I'll be the first person to say I have so far been proved very wrong when it comes to Forsythe. As you mentioned, very small sample size but so far so extremely good for the Twins. I don't think they'd get anything useful back in a trade and if they did get anything, the prospect would probably be a few years from the bigs. I honestly think trying to sign him to a very affordable one year deal makes sense. He plays until Gordon is ready. The Twins also have Arraez who has been performing relatively well at AA and both could get a chance next season but aren't quite there yet. Either way, trading an expiring contract in Dozier, getting back Raley/Smeltzer and an upgrade at 2B (so far) is looking to be one of the best moves of the deadline. Think about it, in almost every aspect (fielding?) he's performed better than Dozier, you also have a top 20 prospect in Raley, and a solid pitching prospect in Smeltzer... I'll take a trade like that 100% of the time.
  14. He could throw a perfect game for all I care, if you're a fan of baseball watching a dude labor inning after inning is as painful as it gets.
  15. Is watching Jake Odorizzi pitch more painful than watching Lance Lynn pitch or is that just me?
