The Twins have unarguably the best coaching staff in the majors. They, and they alone, have unlocked the potential of the unstoppable juggernaut that is Oliver Drake!

Not impressed with the job of ump Nick Mahrley behind the plate tonight.

Don’t worry about a thing. Cuz, every little pitch is gonna be a strike.

Drake, however, thinks he might be the best umpire to ever stand behind the plate.

It’ll have a hard time dethroning the Young/Harris for Garza/Bartlett trade or (going the other way) the Pierzynski for Nathan/Liriano/Bonser trade for most lopsided in team history.

AJ put up the 48th most WAR of any catcher ever.....I'm not sure people look at that trade correctly. Lopsided? Yes. But.....

Not many of them for the Giants, though.  He played one year and then left as a free agent.

Any time you can get a Boof, it’s lopsided for the other guys

true, but maybe I'm thinking most people under estimate AJ.....but I could be wrong....maybe people realize how great he was.

Buxton would have had at least 5 bases on that Kepler triple.  Could have been six but the throw to second would have been too close.

Very good career, just a terrible return for the Giants, that's all I mean.

... and would unaccountably have ruptured a spleen or dislocated an eye in the process.

He had a hair under 23 fWAR in like, what, 17 or so seasons, right?  Two AS games, one SS.

Great might be over-stating.  Mauer has more than twice as much fWAR in 200 or so less games played.

When you look up Terrible AB in the Baseball Dictionary it says: See Mitch Garver AB from 6th inning 8/20/18

Link?

Yes, exactly. One year of AJ - and one of his worst ever - vs 250 plus saves from Nathan by itself makes it lopsided.

comparing anyone to one of the 5-10 best ever, in history, is a rather high bar.....but fair, maybe AJ was just really, really, really good.

Yeah, and you're right about the comparison.

I don't know.  I'd say he was a pretty good ballplayer overall.
