Tom Froemming Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Twins | 44-53 overall, 15-31 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10Adalberto Mejia, LHP | 0-0, 9.00 ERA, 2.25 WHIP, 0.33 K:BB Blue Jays | 46-52 overall, 27-25 at home, 5-5 in their last 10Luis Santos, RHP | 0-0, 7.88 ERA, 1.88 WHIP, 2.25 K:BB Lineups: Additional notes: This is just the second start Mejia will be making for the Twins in 2018 after making 21 starts for the big club last season. He's been pitching well down in Rochester, posting a 3.32 ERA and 1.19 WHIP while averaging 8.8 K/9. Unfortunately, Mejia is coming off his worst start of the year with the Red Wings. He gave up seven runs in six innings of work last Tuesday. The Jays were hoping Marco Estrada was going to be able to come off the DL and start tonight, but they're having to go with Plan B instead, as Luis Santos is making his first career start in what's going to be a bullpen game. Santos, 27, has made five appearances out of the Blue Jays' bullpen this season. The Twins are 19-39 against the Blue Jays since 2010.

AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Glass half full: Twins last 14 games: 9-5, picked up 2.5 games. If they did that four times in a row, they would be 7 games over .500 and a half a game up on Cleveland with 9 games to play.
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 The odds are certainly stacked against a playoff appearance...but stranger things have happened.
sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 I'm sorry. I wasn't listening...Oh wait. This is visual media for the most part. Yeah, 2-1 9 inning game, starters both going deep, ot would be just like baseball, fickle game that it is. I sometimes wish i could give due diligence to appreiate all the intricacies...

I might want to try some, must be good stuff if the first half glass is any indication?

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Oh great. Mejia is back. Ready for a nice 4 inning, 100 pitch outing?
Circus Boy Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Dozier had one job: Put the ball in play. He did not do hisjob.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Bullpen games are the stupidest thing ever. I like the idea of an opener, but a bullpen games are dumb. Especially when you are out of the race like Blue Jays. Bring up a guy from AAA and see how he does.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Yikes. Polanco must be a lot slower than I thought.

Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Team is in a huge slump....while the math is mediocre, trying a hit and run is not the worst idea ever, imo.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 BREAKING: Paul Molitor sucksI'd put more blame on Kepler not getting the bat on the pitch, but to each his own.
S. Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 That was a great defensive play. Had the hitter been Grossman or Wilson, they might've been thrown out at first.
Foghorn Leghorn Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 I'd put more blame on Kepler not getting the bat on the pitch, but to each his own. He’s hitting 226 and has been mostly terrible all year

Mill1634 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Lamonte?Yes. Or Dwyane. I'm sure both would be as good as Robbie.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Wade Wilson? He might still have an arm.Wade Boggs? Probably not as good a hitter as other options. Frankly, the list of famous Wades (first or last name) is not the best list....
slash129 Verified Member Posted July 23, 2018 Posted July 23, 2018 Wade Barrett could crowd the plate and take out the pitcher.
