Game Thread: Twins vs Kansas City, 7/9/18 @ 5:10 PM PT (7:10 PM CT)

[Blake]

After the success enjoyed by the Twins, and, by extension, SampleSizeof1, who, by the way, has a 4-0 record on this home stand, I'm not feeling sanguine about taking over for SSo1 over the next few days. In fact, I sort of have an idea I might have all the success of my favorite coyote:

*Just sort of goes with the way the season has gone, right?

But, that's okay, because, we'll always have 1987 and 1991. Remember 87? The team that wouldn't quit? Yeah, what a fun team and cast of characters. With that, I'll drop this little gem right here:

*That was a fun year. This year, though, well, still a work in progress. Twins aren't dead yet.

With that, I'll leave this video for no particular reason other than it's one of the most original music videos ever made:

*Back when music videos were actually entertaining. these completely inconceivable thoughts:

*No comment on whether or not there's a resemblance to your humble threader.

Some random observations from the game yesterday;

1. Nice to see Odorizzi go 6 innings.

2. Nice to see the Twins sweep.

3. Garver going deep is good.

4. It may have been a good spot to use Mr. Belisle but, I still don't like that he's on the team.

5. Escobar came oh so close to hitting the car. Maybe next time.

Play ball!

Pitching:

About had a heart attack. I was just finalizing things, clicked on something, and everything just disappeared. Fortunately, the back button worked and the day was saved!

Yeah, yeah, whatever, I had fun.

I suppose if you love that a-ha video, you have seen this fond rendition of it too:

Band Montage!

Greatest.  Lunch.  Ever.

13 minutes of Wile E Coyote.  That made my day!  Thank you, Blake!

You'll be relieved to know that Magic Fingers Wilson is in the line-up tonight, ensuring Garver is not over-worked by catching back-to-back games, and Wilson will catch at least 2/3 in this series as a starting catcher should.

I'm confident he will start rectify the terrible damage he did to the drive for .100 on Saturday.

It's nice that the Twins are on a winning streak. However I must admit that is one of my favorite tunes. This is the first time I have ever seen this video clip. It is simply wonderful. Thank you ever so much for posting it.

Enjoy? I do not think that word means what you think it does.

Although, as Mr. Bremer pointed out, Wilson has as many RBI's as hits.

Grossman in the OF?

Interesting that Garver is the DH.

We got a sneak peak inside the Twins' locker room to hear Molly's pre game speech...

Just an fyi, mr and mrs yarnivek will be at wednesday’s game with our newly placed (about 6 weeks ago) foster daughter and my mother. We’ll be on first base side somewhere.

Make a circle me Bert sign!

Make a circle me Bert sign!

I’d make a Circle me Dick sign, but that might get misinterpreted. Maybe, I could put “Richard”. Dick Bremer’s wife actually was one of my babysitters a long, looooooong time ago in a galaxy known as Sauk Rapids.

He's just being efficient. Why waste the hits?

[TheMatt]

Jake Cave, congrats on a helluva series. Your reward is the bench!

[VATwinsFan]

Ya gotta love baseball. The Oriole’s lose 4 straight to our Twins and turn around and beat the Yankees in the first game of today’s DH.

If you blink, you just might miss an IP from Berrios.

[Vanimal46]

Dick: "Where would the Twins be without Rosario?"

I'm willing to guess still under .500 without Rosario, Dick.

[David HK]

Yep. Just what you want from your #3 hitter.

[Vanimal46]

Sigh... 3 LOB. Garver K. End of 1.

This has been your friendly CBU.

[David HK]

Dick re: Astudillo-- "Oddly, we've not seen him behind the plate yet."

"Oddly", he says.

Did you forget about the MoY?

Think I'll try listening to Rex the Wonder Dog for a while.

[ashbury]

Mauer singles, crickets.

Rosario singles, let's talk about the season record.

Dozier strikes out, sarcasm.

See you next game.

[AlwaysinModeration]

Isn’t this game 5 of the 11 game win streak?

[AlwaysinModeration]

Duffy with 5Ks through two innings?

[AlwaysinModeration]

Would it be more likely for Rosario to NOT be on the final ballot, and get named to the team when someone drops out?

[AlwaysinModeration]

What’s the record for most consecutive questions posted in a game thread?

[AlwaysinModeration]

Should I see myself out?
