  1. As far as watching the games I'm beginning to lose interest. I enjoy watching my team hit and score runs. The pitching and defense is there but the offense only shows up on occasion. I don't want to be pleasantly surprised when my team wins. I want to be a little surprised when they lose. If the Twins aren't winning after a few innings I know I'm in for 5 or 6 innings of misery at the plate.
  2. Yeah. things don't go well when the offense doesn't show up. Who woulda thought it.
  3. Sure I saw the "offense" this week and every other week they have played. In fact I've watched all but a few games this summer. I've seen them kick butt more than once. Frankly I wouldn't bet on either team this weekend. With it being the middle of June I'm optimistic. However if the date was Sept 14 I'd say don't bet on the Twins. 6 games out with 14 games left to play is a lot different than 6 games out with 100 games left to play. That fine line doesn't exist at this point.
  4. Wait a minute. It's not even quite half way through June. They are only 6 games back. If they sweep Cleveland in the next few games they will only be down by 3 games. The All Star break is in about a month. If things go well they could be a handful of games up and in first place. I think Molitor has done fine with what he has. The players are the guys that have to preform well. If they don't play well no matter what Molitor does will improve their record. Sano is still a young guy. There is plenty of time for him to be an All Star again. A little time in the minors will probably do him some good. It might be a confidence builder. He didn't come off his leg injury very well and it might have messed with his confidence
  5. It would be nice to see a little more about the Saints. I know very little about them.
  6. Thanks for this info. I've been wondering about it.
  7. Good grief!! It's June 7 and everybody seems to think the Twins are done for this year. There is a lot of games left to play. It's not like they are going to win every game. Nobody does.
  8. We have a pretty young team as it stands so I'd stick with HS grads as much as possible. Try to keep our players young and in their prime as much as we can.
  9. This is how I was expecting the Twins to look. The game tomorrow should be a fun watch.
  10. Joe Maurer has been a very good baseball player for our hometown team. Even after 4 or 5 years of playing after a concussion his BA is still over .300. He plays great defense. In other words he does exactly what a baseball player is supposed to do. And he does it better than most. He also gets paid more than most. People seem to forget that the Twins agreed to his contract. The other players have agents that get them as much as possible too. I don't understand why so many people complain. I hope he can play as long as he wants without medical problems.
  11. So this is about the pitchers. Without question they have all done very well. I hope they keep it up and the batters actually start scoring some runs. So does anybody know why Rodney wears his hat crooked? The bill of his cap points to his left.
  12. So I won't complain about the lack of Twins offense. Plenty of other people can do that. I will bring up a pet peeve of mine though. I get really sick and tired of people personalizing the anthem and "God Bless America" Those tunes are just fine the way they are written. I don't like the singer showing off his or her vocal range. That and the extra vibrato just drive me nuts. It really bothers me. I suppose if the Twins had an offense it wouldn't bother me so much because I would have something good to pay attention to.
  13. I would like it if some of our minor leagues teams were a bit closer to Minneapolis. It would be fun to take a day and drive to a minor league game in order to keep track of these guys as they move up in the system. There is very good amateur baseball in the Twin Cities and the Saints are a fun team but it would be fun to watch a few of the Twins' minor league teams. Years ago I thought the Rochester Red Wings were just a little south of us. Imagine my surprise when I tried to go to a Red Wings game when my wife was attending a fund raising conference in Rochester, MN. Thankfully there are a couple of good amateur teams there.
  14. Lynn sure got worked up in the dugout when he was taken out of the game. It was good to see. So much for these guys just play for their paycheck. It's also nice to see Buxton looking like a baseball player at the plate. More please.
  15. After 20 years I doubt hardly any of us will remember more than a couple of guys on the current roster. Seeing their names in print is a big help. I remember the flow of the game very well but without prompting I couldn't name any of the players aside from Wells.
  16. One homer every 5 innings or so is very acceptable as long as there isn't anybody on when the ball leaves the park. I'm glad we have him.
  17. I remember that game very well. No idea about the weather though I do remember being parked in my car as he finished it.
  18. Thank you. That was a very informative article. We could use more of these.
  19. Things are going OK the way things are now. It will just get better when everyone is back.
  20. I know Buxton counts for an extra out or two over the other guys playing center. However it's not like the other guys miss everything hit their way. Unfortunately Buxton can't seem to hit. When he comes to the plate I just assume there will be another out on the scoreboard. Great defense is fine but the team needs offense too. In this game you have to score more runs than the other team. Buxton isn't contributing to scoring any runs.
  21. Yeah, There aren't many people older than my mother. She doesn't know any of the current players though. She says she's running out of gas on baseball. She saw all of the big name 40 and 50s players in spring training but has never been to a regular season game.
  22. The pitchers are doing great. But don't forget the rest of the team. The Twins are winning games without some of their players. Buxton, Palonco, Sano and Santana are all gone for a while but the team is beginning to win most of their games.
