  1. We don't really know much about these guys. We may hear or read a lot of second, third and forth hand stuff but what does it really tell us? Not much to my way of thinking.
  2. This is the best money post I have ever read. Most commenters seem to think that assembling a roster is kind of like going to the grocery store. Just grab a cart and check your list then head for the shelves. Lights out relievers on aisle B, top shelf on the left. Everybody knows better but we can't seem to help ourselves. I've been reading these blogs since the bat-girl days so I'm not a rookie. Terrific payroll post Bill.
  3. Projections are fun to read in the off season. I don't pay much attention to them though. I pay attention to the W-L column which is 0-0 right now.
  4. Yes, it could make difference. However I think service time is given way to much attention. Winning now is the goal. That's what fills the seats. I really don't believe that the Twins micromanage their players' service time at the risk of missing the playoffs.
  5. WOW Time flies I guess. So Dozier is now an aging player?
  6. I quit paying attention to those guys years ago. I don't pat attention to film critiques either.
  7. If you are getting up in age get your heart checked for sure. Don't wait for a heart attack to let you know there is a problem.
  8. My son worked construction during summer break. My was bringing him home and needed something from the grocery store. He went into get while my wife waited in the car. A man noticed his Twins cap and said it looked like he was a hard worker. After finding out he was on an errand for his mother he took a business and wrote "best ticket available" then signed it. He was one of the Pohlad brothers. My son played high school baseball. I watched all of the games. At one game I was sitting next to an older guy. I had a real nice conversation with him. LOL he knew what he was talking about. 4 or 5 innings into the game I introduced myself. He replied that his name was Tony Oliva. He had a nephew on the team. There are several more so maybe later.
  9. My grandparents lived in Florida. The Yankees had their spring trainning camp right across the river in Bradenton. My brother and I would walk across the bridge to watch Micky Mantle and that gang. If I remember correctly it cost 25 cents to get in.
  10. He's the kind of son that makes his parents proud.
  11. We seem to be acting like the Cubs are some kind of perenial powerhouse. While looking good now they haven't won a WS for 108 years.
