Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 Hope this doesn't sound negative but it seems Buxton is having a hard time hitting the baseball. He definitely is.
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Welp. Something seems off after the last 2 batters
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Best late night food after a day of drinking... Go!SoCal taquitos (or rolled tacos) from a hole in the wall place with a menu in Spanish. Good luck with that. Vanimal46 and Riverbrian 2
Hosken Bombo Disco Community Moderator Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Great outing by Romero, but he has a flashing "TAKE ME OUT!! I'M COOKED!!" sign blinking above his head
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Best late night food after a day of drinking... Go!In college it was gyro and fries, but that could have been because they were free.... Pizza or gyro or tacos Riverbrian and Vanimal46 2

ashbury Verified Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 No such thing as a good at bat that results in an out, unless you're scoring a run. Certainly simplifies the viewing process. Guess I can turn off the game and decide by reading tomorrow's box score. Dozier's Glorious Hair, nicksaviking, Brock Beauchamp and 2 others 5
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Yet another wild pitch directly leads to a run. glunn 1
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 Certainly simplifies the viewing process. Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 Buxton with another K. Not being critical, because lots of them tonight for the whole team. What impressed me was when I replayed his at bat, his eyes were open every time he swung the bat. He is actually trying to see the ball. Just for clarity. It's OK to be critical. Buxton is leaving us plenty to be critical about. It wouldn't be honest discussion to not be critical. Just don't take a hammer to him and smash him to bits like he isn't human and you'll be fine. gil4 Verified Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) As an umpire, I don't give much credence to pitch framing. If I see a catcher's glove move back to the plate on a borderline pitch, it confirms to me that it missed. I'm looking at the ball, not how the catcher 'presents it' to me.I agree, although I have seen some un-framing that has worked the opposite way, especially with catchers sitting too far back losing strikes on low pitches. That (hypothetical) curveball might have been a strike, but it sure doesn't look like one when you short-hop it. Edited May 26, 2018 by gil4 Hosken Bombo Disco, Platoon and glunn 3
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 That last pitch was nasty, as high fastballs are extremely hard to lay off even for the best hitters, especially behind in the count. Not sure why, it just is. Keep watching baseball and you will see those high fastballs work their magic. For example, when I was playing back in t-ball and my dad would pull the tee up way to eye level, and set the ball way up there, I could barely reach it! Especially Tight Ones. Impossible to get around on. glunn and Hosken Bombo Disco 2
twins_89 Verified Member Posted May 26, 2018 Posted May 26, 2018 (edited) I feel bad for Romero, both of the 2 runs he gave up were preventable (one resulted from a stolen base where Garver dropped the ball, and the second only happened due to a wild pitch that Garver couldn't snag). Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted May 26, 2018 Author Posted May 26, 2018 Isn't he playing for Roch now? Yeah... It was a terribly written one man play by me. DocBauer, glunn and Mike Sixel 3
