Potential Wild Card 25 Man Roster

Nailed it if you add Berrios and leave out Boshers.

Mejia should be able to fill in as a LHP out of the pen.

Ideally, is like another guy with pop on the bench. Granite and Adrianza are kind do redundant in a one game situation (Adrianza can play LF, Roasario/Kepler can play center, Escobar could play short). But, if you make it beyond that they may both come in handy. But, a guy who could stroll up and hit one into the seats if down 2 in the ninth would nice (I don't think Vargas or Garver is that guy).

If not them, who? Randy Bush ain't walking into the clubhouse.

You would need four starters max. 4th starter yet to be determined. You should also consider Gee for the bullpen. Look at workload of bullpen probables.

Sano is a decision-maker. Do you need Garver and Granite, although giving them experience for the future over, say, Grossman and Gimenez, would be a plus.

Okay, so you roster Santana, Berrios, and...

*winces in pain*

Out of Colon, Mejia, and Gibson, which two do you field in a postseason series?

*throws up in mouth*

Gibson probably gets the call but god, that guy in a postseason game makes me want to cry before the first pitch is even thrown.

1.) Don't list Grossman as OF/PH. He's a DH/PH. I don't want him in the OF at all in the postseason.

2.) Berrios off the WC roster - unless that means he can't sit on the bench. Gotta have him there cuz he's part of the team. You can leave off the 10th reliever and keep Berrios.

3.) ALCS: Berrios Game 1, Gibson Game 2, Santana Game 3, Berries Game 5. For Game 4, I'd like to see the Twins have Colon do the first turn through the lineup and then Mejia the second turn. Use them as a RH, LH platoon starter. They can get through the 5th that way and the opponent will have to adjust to having all of their LH batters suddenly facing a LH.

He wouldn't be so I think that's a moot point. No matter the handedness of the starter, I suspect Molitor would run out Rosario, Buxton, Kepler (and I think that would be the right decision).

Meh, Adrianza has been working. I think Molitor would stick with what he's been doing lately. Gotta play your game, not reinvent your team in postseason.

Moo point anyways - the Yankees only lefty starting pitcher is Sabathia and he's like #4 on the list of starters they would use in the WC game. We'll be facing a righty. Which is drool-worthy when you think about our stacked lineup of lefties and that short porch in right.

Right. Debating the lineup versus a LHP is a moot point.

In a world series against the Cubs Randy Bush might be walking into the clubhouse, if only to offer congratulations to the victors.

Garver has shown a lot of potential, and posted some impressive AAA stats this year, but I'm not sure that I'd want him behind the plate during the playoffs, at least not starting a game. But he's certainly versatile enough to keep on the playoff roster to play other positions or pinch hitting if necessary. I'd be more comfortable with using the other two catchers and adding an extra bullpen arm.

I haven't seen Garver play behind the plate, but unless he's worthless there, I'd think that Giminez can be replaced by another reliever.

How many relievers do you think are needed for 1 game??

The Twins could play a bullpen game, pitch every good reliever one inning, and still empty their bullpen in three innings.

In other words, there's room for Berrios.

good point. Did you say 3? :)

Sabathia v Colon! Straight out of 2004.

When you consider that Ervin Santana won a playoff game (in relief!) in 2005, the actual proposed Santana vs. Sabathia match-up isn't that far off in terms of vintage.  Ervin is only ~2 years older than Sabathia.

The playoff roster has nothing to do with who sits on the bench.  Everybody can be there.  Most teams only include 2 starting pitchers (one to start, and one for emergency use).

Bartolo was actually the Mets 2nd starter last year.

Santiago went on the 60 day on September 1 thus does not meet the 60 days on the 60 day rule.  Same for Chagois, Hughes went on sometime in August  I do not remember anyone being added that joined the team after September 1,

Hughes went on the 60-day DL on July 18, so his spot would be eligible for replacement.

Technically, days spent on the 10-day MLB DL prior to being transferred to the 60-day DL count toward the 60 day requirement, so I would guess that Santiago's spot would be eligible for replacement as well.  I'd guess the source quoted here just worded it poorly.  But it's a moot point with Hughes, May, and O'Rourke also eligible -- Moya is really the only plausible candidate for addition by this method, barring some catastrophic sequence of injuries.

You are correct on Chargois, he was placed on the MLB DL on September 5th, and prior to that had been on the minor league DL.

So this could get me banned, but I want Ervin Santana and his YTD 29 HR allowed nowhere near Yankee Stadium and Aaron Judge.

The WC starter should be the hottest pitcher, even if it means swallowing some pride. The hottest pitcher also has easily the best GB rate of any of the starters; you need that guy in Yankee Stadium.

I thought I could do it, but I can't. I just can't say his name, so you guys can just make assumptions about who I want for the hypothetical WC game.

Ground Balls, I assume you mean Mays or Silva?

Hughee was listed as Aug 28 on bref I suppose that he was transferred to the 60 day  No real big deal. Now it allows them to add Palka as their secret weapon pinch hit bench bat, since Randy Bush is unavailable.

"If the Twins face a LH starter, Grossman starts instead of Kepler."

I disagree.  I think they go Adrianza in left and Rosario in right.  Grossman's defense is not good enough to play in a playoff game.

Moya was not up before September 1. To get on the playoff roster someone on the roster before September 1 would have to get hurt.

My guess is Perkins will hurts his shoulder on Oct. 1.
