sampleSizeOfOne Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 My Dad ran one of these contests way back when. Then he and his co-worker showed everyone how it was done. They were darn near playing football with the egg they were tossing about. Everyone finally realized they'd been had when Dad cracked the egg and ate it. Turned out, Dad had hard boiled the egg.I helped run one of those in summer camp on summer. Me and the and the other counselour running it joined at the tail end of the last one, and were doing it nearly the length of the small field to the point where i was losing them amongst the leaves overhead. At that point i think i missed one, splattering all over my pants. And got try a couple more times to use up all the eggs i think i got 1 out of 3 at that distance. It wasn't until later that night the other fellow told me they were breaking in his hand early on, but he had someone feeding him new ones. Riverbrian, Blake and USAFChief 3
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 I have a few chickens myself. Real ones. They run on pasture, don't get any hormones or antibiotics in their diet and are like Miller Lite; taste great! Also have about 6 acres of woods. I was working on a fallen tree trunk the other day with an adze. Damn pullet kept getting in my way. Stuck its head in where it didn't belong and I had to pullet out of my adze. Sort of like this comment...Given this statement, I'm not sure I trust your taste in chicken. Dave The Dastardly, Riverbrian, Blake and 2 others 5

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Author Posted August 18, 2017 As I recall it, Chief traditionally posts "winnah" after, uh, a win.Somehow, someone naturally took that a step further to "chicken dinner."And the rest is history. yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 (edited) I wonder if Garver has ever faced Godley in the minors. Probably not this year as they were in different leagues. But possibly at some point. I sure would rather see what he can do than Eduardo Escobar. He had a nice hot streak, but it is long over. He has a .523 OPS in August. Pretty sure Falvine didn't bring Garver up to sit on the bench. Edited August 18, 2017 by yarnivek1972

I mean, obviously, Miller Lite doesn't contain enough alcohol to cloud ones judgement this badly. To be honest, I don't drink Miller Lite. Just had to borrow that line from the old commercials. I was desperate. But not desperate enough to actually drink the stuff. Hewn from German and Irish stock I prefer Grain Belt Premium or Schell's Light for the days when I'm feeling Germanic and Jameson whiskey when I need a wee nip to ward off the chill of a fine soft day. By the way I have a friend named Miller. He's not lite. He's not my brother either. Blake and USAFChief 2

S. Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 C'mon Ervin. You're supposed to be increasing your trade value for the offseason.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Sano might just be the best 3rd baseman in the league when it comes to charging in on softly hit balls and bunts. This is why I was saying from the start to give him time to develop as a decent third baseman. Some things come only from experience, but plays like that are either there from the start or never. He's not the complete package yet, and I wouldn't try to defend him as league average, but he's coming along. USAFChief and MN_ExPat 2

S. Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 That ship has long since sailedThats a bit extreme. Prior to this inning, he still had a 3.28 ERA, 1.132 WHIP and 156 IP. He's definitely been trending in the wrong direction though, and I don't think any GM is truly expecting him to put up a full season like the first few months, but he's still got trade value. How much trade value is up for debate.

We've had more of the latter recently it seems.

Seems to be either magnificent or dreadful. We've had more of the latter recently it seems. That is factual. 4 or 5 good starts down the stretch here though and he could end the season with a very nice stat line. And even with his clunker starts lately, his season numbers are still well above average. In my opinion it's the "the Twins might consider trading Santana" ship that sailed. He'll be here next year. And quite honestly he should be.This may also be factual. Unless I've missed it, I really haven't seen anything from the FO on whether or not they were seriously shopping him at any point. I think whether or not he should be here next year depends entirely on what sort of offers we get. No point in trading him just to trade him, but if the price is right, I'd be good with it.
