Blake Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 (edited) I think Sano was taken by surprise that Glynn was waving him. And with good reason.Yeah, looked to me like Sano slowed because he expected he was going to be stopped. Even if Sano is going full speed, there's no way he makes it home. Definitely on Glynn. USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Yeah, they just showed the replay. He was waving him around and Sano slowed down probably because he was thinking, "what the **** is he doing waving me around?" Buxton would've been out at the plate if he crossed third at the same time as Sano did. There is 0 excuse for sending anyone in that situation, let alone Sano.Well, with two out, you're banking on a mishandle or off line throw. Not the worst third base decision I've ever seen, and with two outs I'm in favor of being very aggressive. That, perhaps, was too aggressive.
Blake Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I can forgive a young player like Sano making a mental blunder. It's going to happen. Glynn knows better.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I think Sano was taken by surprise that Glynn was waving him. And with good reason. It looked like Sano was Lollygagging from second to third and didn't notice Glynn was asking for wheels until too late.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Whatever gun they're using on the Dbacks b'cast has had Santana as high as 97 tonight. 96 this inning.

Blake Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 It looked like Sano was Lollygagging from second to third and didn't notice Glynn was asking for wheels until too late.Shouldn't Glynn have seen Sano wasn't pushing from First to Third?
Blake Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 To be fair, I think even if Sano ran at his top speed the entire time, he would've been out by 5 feet instead of 10 feet.Yeah, I thought Sano was in to third with the hit by Rosario and no more. I was surprised when he went.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 It looked like Sano was Lollygagging from second to third and didn't notice Glynn was asking for wheels until too late.If Sano had been busting it full speed the whole way he'd have been out by 20 feet instead of 30.
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 I just figured out what that ugly Arizona snake head was reminding me of. spinowner, Richie the Rally Goat and Blake 3
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Tonight is exactly why Santana needs to be a Twin in '18. Starts out the night without his best stuff, uses up a lot of pitches early, gives up a couple runs and a cheap homer, then finishes 6 innings with no more damage. Professional pitcher. Guest Guests Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Coach made a mental error - coaches should never make mental errors. Player didn't hustle - players should never not be hustling. Big raspberries to Glynn and Sano.

ashbury Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 To be fair, I think even if Sano ran at his top speed the entire time, he would've been out by 5 feet instead of 10 feet.Maybe. But I'm with Chief on being aggressive in that situation, and Sano wasn't on the same page whatsoever, IMO. Short of insubordinate, but you have to go hard, and let the base coach make those decisions. Sano's got major league speed. I'd think differently if it were, say, Mauer.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 just a single shy of the cycle.
Darius Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Glynn had to have thought he saw a bad throw, or anticipated them going to second, or something. No way he is expecting to win straight up on a good relay home.
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 just a single shy of the cycle.Yeah, that's what I said.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Must be kilometers per hour. Somebody needs to change the setting on the gun from metric to English.Maybe the AZ broadcast crew thinks they're in Canada, eh? spinowner and Blake 2

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Wow, welcome to the Byron Buxton show!
Blake Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 To be fair, even if Lamb makes the play, I have my doubts he is able to get Buxton.
Danchat Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Whatever gun they're using on the Dbacks b'cast has had Santana as high as 97 tonight. 96 this inning.Same on the Twins cast, they have him at 96.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 19, 2017 Posted August 19, 2017 Sano may or may not have been going top speed. But he was out by 30-40 feet. That's at least 5 seconds at his speed. He had no chance to score barring a poor throw. And Polanco was due up. He's the hottest Twins hitter not named Eddie right now.
