DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 https://www.baseball-reference.com/bullpen/26th_Man_RuleIf I read the rule correctly that would be the only way we can keep him. But there's no way they'll keep a starting pitcher who wouldn't be able to pitch in the next doubleheader on Monday when they need another position player.Point taken. Who gets the second game Monday? Gonsalvez or Melville?
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Just commented Slegers has to go down as he's the 26th man for the double header. But couldn't he be kept as an injury replacement for Grossman? This is from BR: The player who was recalled as the "26th man" can remain on the Active List and a different player can be dropped the next day, as long as the "26th man" was not called up prior to spending at least ten days on optional assignment. The way I read it, ANYONE else can be sent down. Kyle Gibson, for example. And sending Gibson down wouldn't make him ineligible to be the 26 th man Monday. It would be on short rest, but frankly I don't care. He can be the long man Monday. Gee can start one game.
AlwaysinModeration Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Could use one of those 8th inning 3-run homers here.
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Dick doesn't know it, but banging an insurance run off the State Farm sign would actually be legitimate irony.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 How did Perkins look today?Like a guy that hasn't faced MLB hitters since Barack Obama was POTUS.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Good eye Joe. Bad call on that strike
Mill1634 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 How did Perkins look today?Well, he has an ERA of 54.00....so not great
Aggies7 Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Did Bert just say "side piece"? Long day for everyone I guess
jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Credit to Clevinger, that last pitch to Mauer was beautiful. Started out down the middle, then dropped almost like Jack Morris's fork ball.

Not if they make a corresponding pitching move. Gibson down and Granite/Garver up. On Monday they get the 26th man again and bring up another starter.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Just put Twins bottle coozy on beer bottle for luck.
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Apparently nobody informed Sano of my efforts
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 At least Sano didn't strike out.

jimbo92107 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 So, Perkins back out for the ninth?
DocBauer Old-Timey Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 So, Perkins back out for the ninth?Moderators???
ashbury Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Moderators???The Twins have not granted us the ability to issue Perkins warning points, much less ban him.
yarnivek1972 Verified Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 I think Belisle should face Encanarcion whether or not Bruce reaches.
spinowner Provisional Member Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 Chad Fairchild's calls are another exhibit supporting the automated strike zone.
USAFChief Twins Daily Contributor Posted August 18, 2017 Posted August 18, 2017 The Twins have not granted us the ability to issue Perkins warning points, much less ban him.Go rogue.
