So not having the benefit of watching - Mauer did not score on the groundout to short but was later  thrown out on a wild pitch?   Was San Diego playing the infield in?  Not off to a good start.

The ball was hit right to the shortstop, Joe didn't have a chance to go home. He got caught at home because he got a poor jump and he's just slow.
