Just keep in mind that many Twins fans absolutely skewered the Twins for drafting Mauer over Prior.   Fans know virtually nothing.

Yep. It generally raises a guy's floor but after reading that the Twins used Trackman data on Greene and still passed, that raises concerns for me.

 

I still wanted to see them take Greene but, again, what the hell do I know?

 

A lot of posters on here like to play scout (not saying you do), but it's really a strange thing to think that they know more about these players than the Twins do. Irrational, to be frank.

Lots of fans mock lots of draft picks, even good ones. That means nothing.

The Twins have finished dead last in the division 5 out of 6 years. Traded away the ONE good first round pick they made the last decade not named Buxton (Hicks) and drafted guys like Michael, Wimmers, Gibson, Revere etc in the first round....they deserve all the mocking they get.

Wow, McKay looks like he's about to cry after getting picked 4th. Contrast with Berrios a few years ago...

I don't hate Lewis on a personal level. He seems like a great pick but I don't see why we'd take a HS guy in this draft.  And I doubt he'd take a huge discount as a Boras guy. So why do we pass on guys who might be able to help the current core?

There were no true 1-1 pitcher guys this draft. Is that correct?

This draft is going well. The Rays taking McKay (and not Thompson, whom they might have taken if McKay was off the board) should improve the probability someone falls to 35.

So McKay loses 1.6 Mil or more depending on what he signs for.  If it is true I wonder what the Twins offer was and if he regrets not taking it.

Well the Twins have been the worst overall team in baseball the last 6 years. It's not so much they think they personally are smarter than the Twins....just the other experts who are saying this is a bad pick...are in fact smarter then the Twins.

Well, its Boras, of course he's the greatest thing since sliced cheese.

We'll see what he signs for. I'd guess 6.25 or thereabouts.

I'm guessing closer to 6.5M so saves ya 1.2M for the slot.

Also plenty of "fans" know scouts and the like as well fwiw.

 

God forbid someone criticize a pick that nearly every expert said was NOT the right choice for #1 pick.

The Twins have different management now and I don't see the top experts saying this is a bad pick. John Manuel for one says he likes it.
