Until Gibson stops nibbling and trusts his fastball, it will be more of the same. I'm sure he looks at it as one that got away.

I'm sure that's how it'll be reported. Unfortunately that's the report for most Gibson starts. A few clean innings and another 1-2 where it all unraveled and snowballed. Then he leaves early with a mess for the rest of the team to clean up.

It's all about presentation.

This little plant makes it look much more appetizing (and probably helps keep your breath fresh).

Yup - Danny Santana with his .100 average and mediocre fielding is sure an upgrade on Buxton.  What is going on?  Second time through the rotation, against an average team, not quite the same as beating up on the sox and Royals.  This is why we wait to judge.  Even this is too early.  Three times through the rotation, then lets make some judgments and changes if needed.

It would have been eventful on April 11, 1954 if not for the rain.  Poor Charlie Brown was ready for the game of his life. http://peanutsroasted.blogspot.com/2011/06/sunday-april-11-1954-im-getting-worried.html

One of these days Gibson is going to listen and trust the movement of his fastball, right?   Nibble, nibble, nibble with a 3 run lead.   It has to drive Molitor and Allen crazy.

What's even worse is that on the pitch before the slam, he busted Romine in on the hands with a 93mph fastball that had no chance of being hit.  Why not go back to that?  Was that Castro who made that call?  Neil Allen?  Gibson shake to the breaking ball?  I'd have gone right back to that fastball on the hands and see what he could do with that one.  If you can't trust your fastball, you might as well pack your bags for the Frontier League.

My problem is that Gibson seems to think he needs to be low in the zone, no matter who the hitter. The pitch that lost the game wasn't necessarily a bad pitch but I do think it was a poor pitch to throw to a low ball hitter.

If you can't trust your stuff and the thought of throwing the ball across the plate makes you want to wet your pants..... Maybe you shouldn't be a big league pitcher?

**** me.

Thoughts on going to the game Friday?

It looks like it's supposed to rain and I live 3 and a half hours away... Would suck to show up and see a postponement

What if it's a tribute?

Just wanted to say any way Tenacious D gets into a game thread is a good way.

Sorry i weren't around to share the blame for how today's game went.

While I'm with Chief that Gibson created that mess for himself, I can't fault him for the home run ball.

Was it a good pitch? No, it was so obviously not a strike that the hitter shouldn't have even swung at it. The ball was inches away from the dirt.

But Romine put a hell of a swing on the pitch. He hit a ball out of the park that most batters would have swung over.
