I like it.  Please like my post too.  It may help...

SMH, No!!

(You used to many words for this thread to get a like. Keep it to one or two words. P.S. Parenthesis don't count)

I've never met him so my endorsement means little.

But... I like the connection with the Cubs.

Therefore he has my endorsement that means very little.

Good news, let's hope the Twins don't botch the interview.

So how do you feel about pitch to contact, bunting to get on base, and DHs in the outfield? And isn't that hall-of-famer Paul Molitor a hell of guy?

Thanks for your time guys. Best of luck.

You left off the prerequisite "Would you vote Nick Punto into the Hall of Fame?"

Am I the only one a little nervous about the idea of a guy who is below the GM level jumping right to the President of Baseball Operations?

McLeod sounds smart. He's from an organization with Epstein/Hoyer, so he's got to have some idea through osmosis or something. But he'd be jumping up several levels. I'd almost rather he jump up to the Twins GM with someone else (maybe a current GM or executive) in the Baseball Operations.

Isn't President of Baseball Operations a bit made up though? As to game the system, and get current GMs to believe they've somehow gained a promotion through changing teams?  If McLeod is the best available; he's the best available.  He's probably intimately familiar with the array of upper front office decision making.

In any case, Mcleod's hire as GM wouldn't preclude a second hire of Baseball Operations, say AA or Cherington...

Sooooo, does the search firm run the interview too, because otherwise....

They'd screen McCleod before presenting him to the people that hired them (Pohlad) for sure.  At least I'd hoped there would be a series of interviews (etc.) before a hire.

Concerned? Look at our current FO. They all lack basic baseball backgrounds. At least Antony, St. Peter. etc. I don't think we could get that lucky

"Are you now or have you ever been lovable? If not, what could you do to become lovable? Without getting sued, of course."

"Besides being lovable, the most important thing is loyalty. Have you ever had an employee who was loyal but not good at his job? How did you handle it without making other people worry that you wouldn't be loyal to them if they didn't do their jobs well?"

"When things aren't going as well as you said they would, how do you decide which lower-level employee to blame?"

"Tell me about some of the inscrutable ways you've communicated that someone was injured or things weren't going very well."

"How does the media help you motivate injured players?"

"When you're mathematically eliminated and trying to assess the future, what is the right number of minor league veterans and impending free agents who should get regular playing time?"

"How many veterans with limited remaining baseball skills are necessary to have a great clubhouse atmosphere?"

"Two-part question. First, please tell me your favorite ways to communicate that things will be better in the future. Second, explain how you can keep those messages going for multiple years."

"Have you ever fired anyone when firing that person wasn't obvious to everyone?"

"When you fire someone who is higher up in the organization, is anything more important than telling the world how great the person is and offering the person another job, doing whatever he wants?"

"How many minor league free agents need to attest to your honor in order for your image to remain clean when you publicly rip rookies transitioning to the majors?"

"What is the optimum number of new positions someone should play in the majors?"

"What do you think about OBP, WHIP and these other new types of statistics?"

"I don't want my kids to change gymnastics classes. Thanks, though."

If that was the only objection, I'm sure we could get this done.  Just say the word and I will have my sister show the family some top-notch gymnastics programs with outstanding facilities.

I know, that was a polite excuse, not an actual reason.  But if it ever becomes an actual reason, we can work on it.

Just to let you know, we have kind of an old boys club around here.  You wont get fired.  You may be asked to step down and take a different position but we wont fire you.  So, if you like job security, how about you just sign at the bottom of the page.

And while my like means little to you, you still have it! :)

Hi. My name is Jim Pohlad, and this is my friend and your manager Paul Molitor. Paul and I go way back, our kids went to private school together. But enough about us, let's talk about the job. First off, the Pohlad companies firmly believe in letting their executives run each company without ownership interference, and.............. (Sound of door slamming). Pohlad to Molly: where did he go? Did we say something wrong?
