I think he's trying to point out that Ricky Nolasco pitched a good game. Congrats to Nolasco.

Oh, okay. Nice job, Rick. Throw 'em the heater.

If this is evidence of TSF, then many people (at least me; I'll own it) on this board are part of that System.    Which is bad.  Even the armchair GM's are wrong, which is almost unheard of.

As I scrolled through the box score, I thought I was going to see a complete game shutout…by Meyer.  Now THAT will be a real kick in the nuts when it happens, and I expect it will a sooner of later., only because this season has been THAT bad.

Nolasco pitching a gem every once in a while seemed to be Ricky's M.O., at least to this disinterested bystander.

Meyer is the additional insult to the Twins' dual injuries in both picking up Ricky's 2016 salary and having Santiago turn into a pumpkin on their watch. The franchise is cursed.

Don't worry about Meyer becoming a superstar.  The Angels demoted him all the way down to the rookie leagues before moving him up to A+.  At A+ he has already had a very bad game.

Nolasco always had a good game here or there, and even some good months too, while in a Twins uniform.

Don't get caught up in a small sample size.

I don't disagree with the curse and it started in 1994. Hopefully the new PBO will come in with a vaccum cleaner.

That said, Santiago was always a pumpkin (career 4.70 FIP,) he just fell apart recently.

Also (post #7 up there) comparing Santiago's 6.3 IP with 4 BB an 2 K, with Nolasco's CG, 0 R, 0 BB, 7 K, 94 pitches and putting it on the same page, is a stretch...

He has been rehabbing in these starts.  Starting for their AAA team today, and likely will get called up if healthy in September.   Donuts to dollars, Meyer will have a better MLB career than Whatshisface who the Twins got back for him

You seriously want Ricky back? Trading him for anyone, you may recall, was considered a solid Front Office move. We got someone.

My issue is with the field staff not getting the most out of Ricky, not the front office getting rid of someone who showed nothing.

But really.... it was just me saying "are you serious? we're on a 13 game losing streak and Nolasco pitches a shutout?"

Don't get me wrong. I think there were just a few of us that tried to point out that Santiago had severe limitations amidst the euphoria of getting out from underneath Ricky's contract. But he did have a good month of July and has been awful since. I said on the day of the trade that Santiago was a #5 SP at best, playing in a more favorable park with a much better defense. Nothing has changed except the trade was done with Scott Boras lurking in the background and swiping a pitcher with actual upside, losing a better pitcher who didn't want to be here and the Twins achieving minimal salary relief in 2017.s

is that verified that meyer is starting tonight for the Bees? Cause their site had tba for starting pitcher around noon today. Look forward to watching him live.

Things are not as dismal as they seem.

Maybe so... But you wouldn't get that impression if you watched Molitor's post game presser last evening. Pretty sure they placed him on suicide watch shortly thereafter.

 Here.

Verified?  Their beat writer said it.

I don't care about what Ricky does or if he has a crazy season post-Twins like the Vanimal had. I do care about having to give up Meyer to get out of Ricky's terrible contract. High upside doesn't come cheap, and I don't like selling it cheaply until I'm sure it's gone full James Hoey (and you should never go full James Hoey).

Why so? It \'s not like the Twins lost the BB equivalent of their #1 QB for the season--and maybe longer.

Donuts to dollars it will be as riveting as a discussion comparing the careers of Dave Stevens and Scott Klingenbeck.
