Seth Stohs Site Manager Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 According to a tweet from Mike Berardino, the Twins have reinstated Neil Allen as their pitching coach. Erik Rasmussen flew out yesterday to resume his duties as Twins roving pitching instructor. Best wishes to Allen. I'm sure this time has not been easy for him at all.
stringer bell Verified Member Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 The most important thing here is Allen's health--mental and physical--after his relapse. I hope he is able to come back and do a good job.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Also, unlike the original thread, let's keep this one civil and try to remember that just because a poster provides some level of forgiveness or empathy for Allen does not mean anyone here is condoning drinking and driving.

I am highly conflicted on this, but I won't judge the Twins too harshly on it.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Good, glad to hear he's back and I hope he's in a better mental state to deal with his issues.
Han Joelo Verified Member Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Best of luck. Almost one year to the day since I recovered from a relapse. So far so good for me; hope Allen is able to learn and rise from the ashes.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 7, 2016 Posted July 7, 2016 Okay, let me lay this out clearly because obviously, nick didn't get his point across: If you're such a sanctimonious ass that you feel the need to attack Neil Allen or another poster for not piling on Neil Allen, think long and hard for a moment. No one here is condoning drunk driving. It's an awful thing to do and puts innocent people at risk. But addiction is a real thing and it sucks. So, if you really feel the need to rip Allen to pieces, HERE ARE THE RULES: 1. Post every bad thing you've ever done in your life. I mean, the really awful stuff. The things that make you embarrassed to be in the same room with another human being, the things that make you want to crawl into a hole and never leave again. 2. Wait for other people to view the thread and rip you to shreds for being such an awful piece of walking, talking human excrement. 3. THEN AND ONLY THEN can you say mean things about Neal Allen. Have it it. You've earned your stripes. No one here thinks it's okay to drive drunk. That's not the point. Showing compassion for someone in pain is not the same as accepting their behavior.

Posting policies still apply.
Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 On a day filled with a lot of bad news, this is good. Do well, Mr. Allen.
Halsey Hall Verified Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 I could write a book here, but will just say welcome back Neil Allen. The rest of your life starts now, good luck.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted July 8, 2016 Posted July 8, 2016 Glad to see Allen back. Life isn't a straight road, when we drive off it, we sometimes need help getting back on.
