Craig Arko Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Did we settle on the pronunciation of Berrios? Is it BEAR-eos? BUR-eos? Win-nah
jsimssd72 Verified Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 It's raining now, so we'll have to see.Yeah but by looks of it the rain should be gone close to game time. I think we may have a delay but the game will be played.
Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Excellent Open Mr. Hrbowski The Berrios Draft Video was a professional touch and much appreciated.
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I'm glad it's Bear-E-os.. really I was just looking for an excuse to post a bear video.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mde4Asp66iM I hope he pitches BEAR-y well tonight.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 This assumes we don't have another 9 game losing streak in there somewhere.I like that assumption, I'm going to go on that one.
bluechipper Provisional Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Bear-E-osI like this pronunciation the best, but I know Dick says BUR-eos. I wonder what Bert will come up with. I could see him going with BAR-eos for no reason.
twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Jose Berrios - Berrios is making his Major League debut tonight! I have been rooting for him ever since he got drafted, and that was a pretty emotional night for him: Berrios was a shortstop until his senior year of high school, when he broke out as a the top pitcher in Puerto Rico. Trevor Rosenthal and Jacob DeGrom are two all-star pitchers who were shortstops in high school. http://www.fangraphs.com/blogs/picking-berrios-top-prospect-debuts-for-twins-tonight/ Walk-off winners - The Twins have picked up a win in the bottom of the ninth the last two games, and Jepsen has been the pitcher who has benefited with the wins, which he did not deserve. Extrapolation - In mathematics, extrapolation is the process of estimating, beyond the original observation range, the value of a variable on the basis of its relationship with another variable. If the Twins keep up at they are going they will end the season with 108 losses, but don't worry, that is too large of an estimate compared to the amount of data we have. Do not be surprised to see a stretch of games where we go 30-20, before playing at .500 ball the rest of the year. I am predicting a season record of 82-80. State Functions - The value of a state function is independent of the history of the system. That is what death and winning the World Series have in common, so if someone ever asks you what they have in common, use this as a comeback. Sinking Ships - Last night we learned that a certain moderator survived multiple sinking ships, and also was on some ships that did not sink. Question: Did he survive the SS Edmund Fitzgerald? Will he survive the season? Will he survive this website? From homers and injuriesTo hard throwing rightiesAnd things that go thump in the ninthGood Lord, deliver usWhat in the hell is with all the Gordon Lightfoot references these days? I mean, I love the guy but it's kind of freaking me out.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Any word on the game, I know if they were playing it south of Mpls, they would be playing it. If Future Radar is to be believed. May be a slight delay but it looks like a window big enough for a ball game.

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 And no, nobody survived the Fitzgerald, let's hope that's not the case for this season.
Pardon My Dinger Verified Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I'm pretty sure Burr-ios is closer to the way Jose would say it. The emphasis is on the 'ree.'
Vanimal46 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 Well, there goes my bear theme for the night... Let's hope Burr-ios freezes out the competition! http://www.renegadegardener.com/images/jack-nicholson-frozen-shining.jpg

twinsnorth49 Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I think it's probably more like Baa-rios, with a quick a sound on the first e.
Mr. Brooks Verified Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I was under the impression it's pronounced like Burritos if the t was silent.

Riverbrian Old-Timey Member Posted April 27, 2016 Posted April 27, 2016 I think any team with Danny Santana and Eduardo Nunez alternating as their leadoff hitter doesn't have as much offensive talent as they think they do. Yeah I think Nunez and his Current 166 OPS+ is very disappointing as well. I can hardly stand it... I wish he would just perform like others think he should because it's so dishonest to the baseball fans who really know what he is. His 105 OPS+ last year is also... well... I'm so angry with him... I can't even find the words.

I can't even find the words. Well he's got a career OBP of .314.I don't have a problem with him in the lineup most days. He's a legit mlb player. Just not sure he's a leadoff hitter on a good offense.
