d-mac Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 It's Hu......wtf.... Seriously, **** Terry Ryan.
Loosey Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Where is that should Terry Ryan be fired thread? I now have a more concrete answer. . .
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Well that took a predictable turn. The Rays may have changed management, but fleecing the Twins is evidently still in the operator's manual on Page One.
d-mac Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 OMFG, HU? Fire Ryan. Join the club. I've hated TR for a passion for many a season.
d-mac Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 And Tapia. Wow. I like how Hu wasn't good enough. This smacks of a Capps desperation move.
Brock Beauchamp Site Manager Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I think everybody here is a little too high on Hu. He's not an elite pitcher and there are a full 5-6 guys who project higher than him in the system. With that said, I don't like this trade. Not one bit. Not for Jepsen.
David HK Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Well, at least we got Herschel Walker...
TheLeviathan Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Don't worry folks, Bill Smith handled these negotiations. Only explanation really.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Out of touch. The disdain for young pitchers by this organization is unforgivable. Why not just call up any number of AA or AAA arms.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Dang it, we had to give up Hu for an average bullpen pitcher? Ugh... he's replacement level, not average....
spanman2 Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I didn't renew my season tickets this year. Ironically my former rep had left me a vm over my lunch hour telling me how I could "secure" my playoff priority seat(s). I wasn't going to do anything but after hearing of this BIG time signing I may just go all in and renew up baby!!! Seeing what Toronto for example is doing and seeing what the Twins are doing is very disappointing. I guess one could say that even if the Twins were to sneak in as a wild card that they aren't built to win an intense 7 game series so there is no reason to go "alli in" via trades and mortgaging the future etc. but if this is all you are going to do it sends a bad message to the players and the fan base!
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Seriously, the Twins probably wouldn't have had to offer all that much more to the Marlins to get Capps or AJ Ramos.
nicksaviking Community Moderator Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I could have sworn Ryan just said something about not making a trade for the sake of making a trade, and that he wasn't going to force anything.
d-mac Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Don't worry folks, Bill Smith handled these negotiations. Only explanation really. What if... Terry Ryan was really handling the Bill Smith Trades?http://static.comicvine.com/uploads/scale_super/14/146951/3045928-conspiracy-keanu-blank2.jpg
Badsmerf Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Hu did we give up for Jepsen? Seriously though, super pumped to hear "Call me Maybe" during games.
amjgt Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 If I check a boxscore specifically because you played in the game, you should not be in this trade. Hu's on first (plane to Tampa)
drivlikejehu Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 LOL! Classic Terry Ryan. I'd say that this changed my opinion of his him, but that wouldn't be true.

He's not an elite pitcher and there are a full 5-6 guys who project higher than him in the system. Brock, I know the Twins spent like $5 on advertising with you guys so you have to tow the Twins company line, but give me a freaking break. A rotation needs 5 guys and arms an unpredictable, thus you need as many high upside guys like Hu as possible. Also, Tapia is nothing to sneeze at either, only striking out 1 guy per inning and only 19. Maybe that is the problem, Hu and Tapia both average 9k/9, PITCH TO CONTACT!
drjim Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Shocked that people would overrate our prospects.

I admit, I've been pretty cautionary on Hu as a bit of a one-trick-pitch pony. But this is an awful move, as I said, you could have gotten a really good RP from Miami for Hu and another Top 10-20 prospect.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Brock, gotta raise the quota on votes today. I can't like all these posts bashing the trade anymore!
d-mac Verified Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 I could have sworn Ryan just said something about not making a trade for the sake of making a trade, and that he wasn't going to force anything. When has TR never sounded like a politician. He is so dishonest, I'm really sick of him.

Also, I said it was too much to give up for Jepsen but the way people are acting around here, you'd think the Twins just traded away Jose Berrios.
Mike Sixel Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 No, we are acting like the Twins traded 2 prospects for a replacement level RP....... TR said he was going to "try" to improve the team. Is this like Butera trying to hit a MLB pitch?
jokin Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Shocked that people would overrate our prospects.Shocked that people would overrate our acquisitions.
Danchat Old-Timey Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 In all honesty, I'd be OK trading Hu and Tapia for a reliever. The only problem is that we're getting Jepsen, a reliever who we'll have to bank on rebounding with the Twins. I'm not sure I want this guy pitching in the 8th inning. That what makes this a below-average (but not horrible) trade.
drjim Provisional Member Posted July 31, 2015 Posted July 31, 2015 Shocked that people would overrate our acquisitions. I'm not overrating the acquisition - Jepsen is what he is. But Hu and Tapia are what they are too. This is what they are worth. If people want to make trades and trade prospects they should probably understand what they are worth. If they got a better reliever it would have required better prospects.
