That loss is 100% on Molitor.  You don't show up a home plate ump when he clearly got the call right, you especially don't show up an ump when the ump knows your to much of a coward to ever challenge a close call.  You wish Jeff Nelson forgot that pathetic display by Molitor but we didn't get a close ball and strike call the rest of the night.

If I'm the GM I fire Molitor, I'm not the GM.

Perkins tried to blow the ball past A-Rod.  If Perk had not blown the save we would be celebrating now.

Good thing we brought Mauer in! Definitely couldn't have used him at the plate last inning.

That's some deep thinking!

Seriously, the Molitor trolling on this is beyond ridiculous.

Our closer blew the game.  That's on the closer.

Consider the source.

If you fired a manager every time they made a mistake eventually you'd be so far down the list that Ashbury would get the job.

Especially if you invent them at your own whim.

Molitor has already made more than his share of mistakes in less than 2/3rds of a season.

Gardy never would have pulled that stupid ****.

It would be a big responsibility but I... hey waitaminnit!

This series went to hell in a hurry. A loss tomorrow is almost guaranteed.

I hate to agree with this.

Dozier amazing comeback homer; Twins win 3 straight. Perkins loses save streak in Oakland; Twins lose four straight. This (apparent) demoralizing loss...seems like a recipe for a losing streak.

Thank God for that.

This is also why I don't buy the 'we're not a play-off team, we don't need a closer' line of thinking. Losses like this are demoralizing whether your 9 games over or 9 games under.

It doesn't help that Molitor made sure his pitchers got squeezed the rest of the night.  If you think Perkins is the same pitcher with a 10% smaller strikezone fine it's all Perkins fault.  Hicks swung Nelson saw it, Nelson made the call, no argument was going to change the fact that on a ball 4 pitch the batter gave away a run and a out.

I don't see the connection between Molitor being ejected and the Twins losing.  I did not see any subsequent bias from the home plate ump.

It seems to me that the biggest lesson of this game is that Perk needs to be more deceptive against great hitters.

I know... It's just my crazy way of thinking but I have a hard time blaming Molitor for managing the team into playoff contention with a team that very few thought would be in playoff contention.

They all make mistakes... The managers... The Coaches... The Players... The Front office... The guy selling cotton candy.

I'm just somewhat satisfied with the ball I'm seeing overall... But i'm kinda goofy.

You think a squeezed zone is why he laid one up to A-rod?

Perkins was serving them up - the strike zone was never a factor.

you didn't see how the twins were dominating the game until that happened? Then immediately the Yanks got it down to 5-4?

Now I remember why I despise the Yankees. Well, other than the huge cloud of smug that permeates their dugout.

Does MLB.com mention the Twins pounding the Yankees yesterday? No. But MLB.com darn sure mentions the Yankees comeback today.

Yeah, cuz correlation equals causation.......

Yeah God forbid a media organization reports on the largest city in the country and the largest fan base.
