Dave, just curious, who do you think the manager should be?

Gardy, or if you insist that he should have been fired, go get someone from outside the org.

By the way Molitor was arguing to put that call in the hands of a 1st base ump who thanks to replay won't be held accountable for a pathetic job on the only 2 calls he was needed for all night.

And Rick Anderson should still be the pitching coach?

I'm just somewhat satisfied with the ball I'm seeing overall... But i'm kinda goofy.

And wise.

I know... It's just my crazy way of thinking but I have a hard time blaming Molitor for managing the team into playoff contention with a team that very few thought would be in playoff contention.

They all make mistakes... The managers... The Coaches... The Players... The Front office... The guy selling cotton candy.

The thing is if you knew March 31st how good we would be pitching you would have predicted this was a playoff team.  Maybe you want to give Molitor credit for that, but I really don't think he did anything other then agree with the GM's choice for pitching coach.

Even us posters. We might make a mistake too.

Unless of course, i'm mistaken.

So close. At least there was hope.

Don't get to down on tomorrow's game though. Tomorrow will take care o' its self.

Seems to me the goat is likely Escobar. Should have caught the liner before ARod made it 5-3.

He shouldn't be on the roster period.

Nitpic, I know, but he was arguing to put that call in the hands of the 3rd base ump, since Hicksee was batting LH'd in that AB.

Leave the left/right musings for the politics thread, okay?

Silver lining:

May we declare a new setup man minted tonight?

I hope not, May needs to be in the rotation.

Questions:  1) Why is it worse to lose in the 9th when once there was a 5-1 lead?  2) Would people be as disappointed if Milone got shelled for 8 and the the Twins rally for 5, but lose?  3) Why is every loss Molitor's fault?

Yeah God forbid a media organization reports on the largest city in the country and the largest fan base.

I thought the Cubs had the largest fan base?

No way, the Yankees brand is always number 1.

And the combined fan base of every other AL Team is far larger than the fan base of the Yankees. All of those fans would probably like to know their favorite team to hate got pounded.

But heaven forbid a media organization report to the largest fan base in the country.

A-Rod, who is the most polarizing player in baseball hit 3 HR tonight (including a game tieing one in the 9th). I'm sorry, that is just a big story. Same as if lebron put up 60 against any team.

I hate hate hate hate hate hate the Yankees, but their fans are diehards, always show up, and are in the tens of millions.

Molitor did not lose this game. Nothing extremely weird was done or not done. NY can hit, and finally started hitting. And as Perk has said in the past, sometimes it just won't go as well as others. About a third of the way into the season, he had a few games in a row where every ball hit was a rocket, and they were all at someone. These weren't. The only consistent qualm I have with Molitor is his seeming disregard of pinch hitting. It doesn't seem to matter who is on the bench, or what the situation. He seems a firm believer if you are in the lineup, you are going to hit when it's your turn. There were several options to PH Mauer in the eighth. One of them should have been used.

Molitor wasn't the manager in the 8th inning.

I am fully aware of that. But he sets the tone, and his brief history is not to pinch hit. Plus I would have no doubt there would have to be "little birdies" telling the bench coaches what to do.
