Well if that's not a Twins Daily call...  Nice job Swain and GCTF, you got the outs wrong bud.

Time for Dozier to get some momentum toward the All-Star game.  A walk-off would help.

Yes.  Yes it will.  go Doze!!!

Ch-ch-ch-chicken dinnah.  Yes, chicken dinnah.  Thank you, Mr. D.

Oh, I also blame Perk and May for not giving up late-inning runs, and forcing us to endure a walk-off HR in the 10th.     :)

Hunter's standing on deck and Dozier (of course) is in the batter's box. Hunter glances down at Hunter (Tommy) and says, "Give him the high fastball." Hunter (Tommy) looks back and answers, "What high fastball? I have no high fastball." Hunter looks calmly around into the dugout and says, "Sano, rip his arms off." Hunter (Tommy) jumps nervously and says, "Oh, you mean this high fastball," and throws the pitch.

BAM!!!!!!!!!

In baseball, a sacrifice fly is a batted ball that statisfies four criteria:

-There are fewer than two outs when the ball is hit.

-The ball is hit to the outfield (fair or foul), or to infield foul territory.

-The batter is put out because an outfielder (or an infielder running in the outfield, or foul territory) catches the ball on the fly (alternatively if the batter would have been out if not for an error or if the outfielder drops the ball and another runner is put out).

-A runner who is already on base scores on the play.

Yeah, i know.

Just the exchange of an out for a base makes it plausibly sacrificial in nature. And i'm sure no one will say it weren't a fly...

Interesting that they make the infield/outfield distinction...

I'd not considered that.

I should perhaps ask where the boarder between the infield and the outfield actually lies...

If an infield fly rule gets called, does that automatically mean it won't be scored a sac fly if the runner tags and scores?

Anyway...

Dozier has ended the game. Time to listen to the post game post treat post...

"Vulture" May?

Seriously, though, seeing May come in made me realize the Twins had a chance.

That was a cool win.

Still saying that Dozier's best chance is if someone pulls out of the All-Star game and Yost takes him, but a walk off is a great start to his Last Man campaign.

I'm pretty apathetic about the All Star game, but that'll inspire me to vote for Dozier.

Same boat.  I just voted... like 15 times... apparently there's no limit...  sort of addictive, sort of annoying...  I'm already over it, but everyone should vote Dozier!

Cool thing about Trevor May coming in for extras... Now the Twins have a guy that can go six or seven innings if the game is tied at the end of nine. That saves the bullpen a huge amount of work.

The other thing about May is, he's built so durably, he looks like he could pitch a couple innings every game. They won't use him that way, but in a pinch, they could for a few games. Milone could do that, too, but May's fastball is better suited than Milone's for relief work. Not sure if Pelfrey could handle pitching that often.

Also, this-  which is the kind of thing I see on other game thread sites too often.  (Esp the White Sox)

Sparkling dialogue, erudite and invigorating.  And the wit- for the love of God, the wit!

I'm glad our little Midwestern thread ain't a steaming pile of this.

O's postgame-  (former Twin) Rick Dempsey nearly apoplectic.  They're blaming Paredes for whiffing in the 10th, also for the DP in the 7th.  That's why they lost.

Was nice hearing Gary Thorne and Palmer call the game, tho-

Also according to Dick and Bert... kidney Beans are actually kidneys.

So are pinto beans actually pintos?  If so, are they the horse or the car?  If they are the car, that would explain the explosions out the rear end that they cause,

Sorry I missed the game thread, but when the oldest kid is out of the house and #2 thru 5 are at camp, there is no one left to keep # 6 occupied except Mom and Dad.  (Clean kitchen ... play with 10 yr old - easy choice).  (For my wife the choice was "let him entertain 10-yr-old" or "let that ogre destroy my kitchen by trying to clean it" - easy choice for her too.)

I've got to say this site is pretty darned good on it's own, not just "compared to that ..."
