Apps are expensive to create. Any chance of a TD app?

We have a PWA right now, which works like an app. One of the things I'll be working on with this redesign is a dedicated, downloadable app. I'd put odds of it happening at 50/50. There are a great number of tools that help with app creation now, which didn't exist just a few years ago. As for the PWA, here is how you create that. It works well now, will work even better after the relaunch.

Keep the user interaction forefront, whatever else you do.

Difficult, I'm sure, but cut down the daily SPAM from a couple writers. Perhaps expand your writer base. Also difficult  I'm sure.

The give and take in the forums around the game threads are pretty much all I read! It’s priceless because it’s live.
The rest is only opinions

and you know what they say about opinions

Well you asked. So here goes. Honestly, the reach and impact of TD lost a lot of its charm. But it’s not because the reasons stated Brock. It’s pretty sad, but I guess you guys just couldn’t see it. I appreciate everything you, Seth, and others have done. Unfortunately the desire to stay as narrow minded as possible has impacted the ability to be of use to most Twins fans. Unless you fall into the “sell the Twins”, “fire the Pohlands”, or “so and so player is garbage”. There’s no room for varying opinions. When TD became very vindictive and pushing the agenda of 3 or 4 moderators, well you choke off your fans. I welcome you tell me I am wrong. However introduce me to any one of the moderators that has not publicly stated there hate of the team, fans, or players. I will wait.

Speaking as a moderator, I donate my time for free to the website because I love the Twins and TwinsDaily.

i really dislike characterization of anyone as “garbage” or other such derogatory language, it’s specifically against the rules and I moderate out that type of language constantly.

I would like to add that I think the moderators do a good job. They let things happen and only get involved when things go off the rails. I for one am tired of characterizations that TD posters are all negative or too Pollyanna or anything in between. There are a lot of people posting on this site and I believe the opinions run the gamut.

Except for when we throw to the wrong base or don’t hit the cut-off man 😀

It's in the sidebar on the forum index page only.

Hadn't looked at that in a long time.

1) If I click "see full list", it's populated by mostly "guest" after "guest".  Don't know who would want to see that, but can it at least be an option to skip those?

2) I never log out of the site.  What does it mean that I'm "Online"?

If you’re online, you’ve been active in the past X number of minutes. I don’t recall the exact number, probably 5-30.

This is what the online box looks like to me. Do you see something different?

Yes, that's about what I see.  Of course I only look when I am online.  I've never had a reason to open a "private" Firefox window and have a look at what the rest of the world sees, first thing before I start activities.  Maybe I'll remember tomorrow.

That’s odd though, I was called a POLLYANNA by a MODERATOR. So how are they doing a good job if they are the ones doing it. LAVikings to be more specific.

It’s great that you volunteer. I volunteer in different areas in my community. Being a volunteer does not give someone a right to not follow policy of TD. Or to discriminate against others or to push your own agenda. Or does it?I would be more than happy to volunteer my time. If anything volunteer moderators should be held to higher standards.

Of course you like the moderators as they are. You can say anything you wish with out being punished. What about the fans that are strongly discouraged and disrespected by posters such as you , Linus, and the rest.

This is not a forum to discuss moderators. If you have an issue with moderation, you can reach out to me anytime.

I understand that. I was simply offering suggestions. Then others followed suit but they mention the moderators and yet no warning to those, just me, alas further proving. Certain opinions are discouraged if they do not fit there stated narrative. I will reach out to you Brock as a final shot to be heard, or brushed aside again.

I just wish that other posters wouldn't respond to those posters, so I don't wind up seeing the posts anyway and get reminded why they're on Ignore in the first place.  Life is short, and has been better since I embraced the feature. 😄

It's probably a nightmare from a coding standpoint, but hiding the responses of ignored posters within quoted text would be swell

I’d be okay with simply replacing them with an ‘lol’ style emoji.

It's a code nightmare, which is why it hasn't been done. A quote is stored as part of your post, so it would involve some pretty dodgy logic to try to suss out the quote and take action on it.

Holy **** this is a great idea. I don't know how feasible it is, but it's going into the notes for sure.

One of the things we're considering is a totally different style of front page that is effectively a twitter-style feed. This idea kinda slots into that concept, though there are a ton of details to work out.

For what it's worth, I'm an avid reader and engager specifically because the the format and UI are unlike social media "feeds."
