If they’re gonna keep Jeffers they should move Caratini. Shouldn’t be keeping 3 catchers and outside of June his bat has been poor and he’s just blocking ABs from other guys and AAA guys.  This r

I'm with you on that.  I also don't mind if they selectively move someone - Larnach would have been out the door already except for an executive intervention at the Astros, so chances are another deal

Yeah, unique year but the starters on expiring contracts required the most palatable player equity in return. You basically just had to be willing to eat salary. Seemed like the best fit for the Twins so they could continue to tell the fans and players they were serious, without really impacting the competitive window by limiting development of the guys they'll need to compete, which I like to think is starting next year.

Giants are certainly acquiring assets.

You can't be upset with the results,  its that they were active and that deadline was universally applauded for being aggressive and smart.

I am actually not too upset because they are further away then they think.  But there sure was a lot of talk and with a half hour to go, not much action.  It feels more like half measures again, no real plan.

I am almost glad the Twins have sat idle.  Their last move was questionable, and I don't think they have a realistic chance of advancing in the playoffs so I hate the idea of trading prospects at this point.

Personally, I would have traded Jeffers, but apparently, they prefer to ride out the season and hope for a pick after he (allegedly) turns down a QO.

No they got gun shy after losing a couple games and Zoll may have finally talked some sense into Pohlad.  I think Pohlad is effected by the boards,  so the lack of love for the moves he has made.

Yeah, this is going to be a fun discussion we never get to have at the end of the season. The Twins are going to have to break the mold to offer a QO to a catcher. The other teams probably won't like that either as teams like the Twins aren't supposed to set precedent.

And then on the other side Jeffers and the MLBPA are going to have to try to figure out what life after the CBA is going to look like.
