Uh, "no different"? Bradley was 6 years younger last year compared to Kremer now. Kremer has already pitched 700 innings in the majors, he's not a young arm like Bradley. I don't see much in common other than both were at their lowest point in their careers when traded.

You aren't catching the drift -  Tampa was frustrated with Bradley didn't think they could get full potential so traded him for another player that was worth 20 million excess value.   Baltimore is trading a player they view as a 5th/6th pitcher that they may have DFA'd at the end of the year.  They are taking a true flyer on a kid that is more raw than Brandon Winokur was.    I think the Twins see a #3 pitcher potentially in him for the remainder of this year and next.  At the very least a pitcher than can eat a lot of innings.

If they see a number 3 this year....they need new glasses.

I am not seeing the bargain basement prices you are referring to.

This is based on what the Twins need, I think these are all more than reasonable deals for a team that considers itself a Buyer...

• Padres get: LHP Robbie Ray
• Giants get: RHP Miguel Mendez, IF Joniel Hernandez

• Brewers get: RHP Dustin May, LHP JoJo Romero
• Cardinals get: OF Alexander Frias, OF Carson Ragsdale

• Cubs get: RHP Kevin Gausman
• Blue Jays get: OF Brett Bateman, INF Ty Southisene

• Rays get: RHP Freddy Peralta
• Mets get: OF Aidan Smith, RHP Gary Gill Hill, 2B Émilien Pitre

I miss the days where there were very few deals on deadline day.

Why? This is how bad teams get better faster. It's very good for the health of the league.

He has 36 innings.  We know you don't like him.  No different than several didn't like Bradley last year.   Its a bit of a gamble but its a fairly cheap one for an 18 year old international prospect.

Seems like one of the three catchers is a given and at this point. And likely a 'staffer' would only be privy to the most obvious moves.

I would imagine the "staffer" was told to leak that.

Things fell off that badly for Mayer?

Seigler passed him as far as 2B/3B goes on the team. But the Red Sox will regret this trade.

I am shocked Mayer went for a reliever like Miller. But maybe it is more name recognition than anything.

Because it doesn't matter what a team looks like on April 1. Or even July 31. Every team is completely different on trade day.

Well, um, it sure matters to standings. And, what difference does it make if teams change over time?

You don't want bad teams to get better?
