Personally, I think they should enact this plan....

Prielipp with a Paredes piggyback today, then send Paredes down to AAA after the game and call up Ober. Then Ober or Zebby can pitch tomorrow and the other one can start on Friday (They both last pitched on Saturday)

I’d keep Paredes up and send Adams down.

I'd rather keep Paredes stretched out at AAA

The secondary effect of that is that they might not feel the need to keep Rojas stretched out and he can rejoin the MLB bullpen.

Ultimately, assuming health, yes, I'd rather have Paredes filling the Adams role, but we obviously can't assume health. SOMEONE has to be available for some spot starts.

Piggybacking doesn't work in reality.  Let the flow of the game dictate your moves.

I don't think it works as a long-term strategy, but for specific games and specific combinations of pitchers it can be effective.

I know how sensitive they are trying to be with Prelipp's workload and this seemed like a good opportunity to help that situation.

It's a good plan.

Maybe but you can't commit to o how many innings Paredes goes.  And if Prieliepp is cruising with a low pitch count, why pull him.  Either put him in the bullpen to control his innings or send him back to St. Paul where it is easier to control.  We are supposedly in contention, worry about winning the game.

This plan wasn’t really about finding Paredes work. And you can still let the game situation dictate things. If Paredes doesn’t pitch, no skin off my back.

It was more about feeling like we had a better chance to win tomorrow if either Zebby or Ober pitches and the bullpen might be fresher.

Any word on when Ryan Jeffers will be activated. He seems ready after yesterday.

A couple more days, according to Shelton. He didn't catch a full nine-inning game yet. I believe the plan is for that to happen before he is activated.

Per Bobby N:

Bailey Ober is coming back to start Thursday’s game against the Guardians. Marco Raya is going on the 15-day IL because of a right shoulder impingement.

And they signed Matt Bowman to a minor-league contract.  Interesting that they have not made a corresponding move for Raya.  I guess they are just going activate Ober to take Raya's spot? That leaves us short in the bullpen.  Especially if you consider burning both Preilipp and Paredes in a piggyback type of role today.

I don't think that is too big of an emergency with the All-Star break looming and two consecutive 7-inning outings separated by an off-day. If there is a short start, Paredes should be able to go 80 pitches. I haven't seen any mention that Prielipp would be limited today, did I miss something?

Gleeman said this was the fifth time the Twins have signed Bowman to a minor league deal. He was really effective for the Saints earlier, but was hit hard while pitching for the Jays AAA club in Buffalo.

You didn't miss anything.  Just responding to the above comments which I believe are concerned about Preilipp and that the Twins may need to start monitoring his innings.  Preilipp has done well enough to continue pitching normally with a normal bullpen.  I would prefer Paredes to be ready for Ober on Thursday in case of a short start and however many bullpen arms would be used today.

Roden season debut tonight?!?

W.S. Go will be wearing number one on his jersey. Will he be number one in our hearts?

Roden in RF and Keaschall in CF.  Hmmm. Opens up conversations..

So Keaschall is now the backup center fielder, and perhaps the everyday guy until Buxton returns. It never appeared to me that the Twins were thinking of Roden as a center fielder.

They got that other guy, Welker, Junkins, I forget his name.

I'm actually glad Bowman is still available. I feel he has some value.

Luke Keaschall is making his first MLB start in center field tonight.

Derek Shelton said he passed the early test in right field and the Twins think his speed/athleticism will work well in center field.

Hope he does well  ,  kids talented  -just young and sometimes to jumpy ,  Go Twins

Luke Keaschall has played center field. He played the position during his time in the minor leagues and officially made his first career Major League start in center field for the Minnesota Twins on July 8,     Go  Luke  Go  !!!!!!
