Looks like a tough series ahead. Does it seem like the Astros do this every season, start out looking less than desirable and then become a team that is annoying hard to beat somewhere from mid-season on? I just hope we win! Please Surprise me. Go Twins!!

Twins History;

-On this date in 2007, star catcher Joe Mauer hit the first grand slam of his career. He hit it off Tigers ace Justin Verlander in an 11-1 victory at Detroit. Verlander was historically Mauer's most productive pitcher to face, with the Minnesota icon hitting four career home runs against him.

-Twins Hall of Famer Harmon Killebrew was born on June 29, 1936, in Payette, Idaho. Known for his towering home runs, "The Killer" spent the vast majority of his illustrious 22-year career with the Washington Senators/Minnesota Twins franchise, racking up 573 career home runs.

On the season the Twins have scored more runs than any other AL team (412) and have also allowed the most runs in the AL (442).

Twins place Banda on IL with a left lat strain and recall Laweryson.

Oh man. I thought I read Lawrence at first..oh God no! Laweryson. Maybe a little better, thank goodness no Lawrence!

You'd like to have your A team, but if Buck is dinged up I pity the fool. Caratini-Vazquez in the Scooby Doo Catcher Switcheroo. Let's take another series!

Buck hasn’t looked comfortable lately and here’s why. Matthew Leach:

Buxton is out with a recurrence of hip discomfort. He’s getting imaging. They’re still thinking of it as more a day to day thing than a jeopardy-of-IL thing but he’s out.

It's a valid explanation for a drop in performance. Hopefully two or three days off will help him heal up. Thank you.

Seems like 75% of the time TC says an injury is day to day it's a 8+ day injury.

Why are Fedko and Martin on the roster

Doesn't seem like there's much faith in Fedko. They don't seem him as a prospect so they feel there is no need to give him regular at bats, so he's just sitting in Outman's role, hiding on the bench.

Bummer to hear that about Banda, might be a season-ender. Time to convert Klein into a one-inning reliever and hope Culpepper is ready for the call. They could do something really fun and call up both Culpeppers on the same day.

Matthew Leach:

Banda’s injury is significant, months not weeks, according to Shelton. Big blow to him and the team.

I’m finding the Banda news to be very distressing… He’d been settling in so well! I can’t imagine that it was just that one pitch, so I am curious when/if he brought it to the team’s attention…

I wonder how much of it is a hold over from that last spate of issues - obviously we’ll never know, but maybe if they hadn’t brought him back so quickly in DH spot it would be looking different…

So if Buxton is dinged up again and sits for a few games, does he or should he even play in all-star game? Has earned the status of all-star, yes. Could he use those off days to heal, yes. Now the kicker is, he rests up and then plays in all star game but then needs another week long break later in July. If Pohlads believe we are a playoff team 9laughing as I am typing this), he should rest as often as he can to be full buck when he plays.

I don’t know where I stand on Fedko, but they should throw him out there and give him some chances to see what he can do. We face a couple lefties at the end of the week, but we’re in the Bronx so I’m not sure if he’ll get time there. Find out if he’s any good and if he’s not, send him down and bring someone else up.

This is just roster mismanagement and they want us to believe they are a contender.  If you don't want to play Fedko, call up someone you will use.  We are basically playing with a one man bench tonight.

So they are going to play short handed, again. Will they ever learn?

They like to increase the degree of difficulty to get a W.

In Old Friend news… Chris Paddack signs on with the Texas Rangers. A sheriff returns to his home state. 5th team in less than a year.

Hope they (Rangers) have an adequate cafeteria and clubhouse.

So if a guy is going to miss a game or two, you automatically put them on the IL? Sometimes players actually are day-to-day and the backdating for three days is a bit of a review period. If they go longer before putting someone on IL, maybe there should be some fingers pointed.
