Hello, my first time posting a topic in these forums and I think its a great one to talk about because I'm sure there is a lot of Twins fans with mixed opinions on the subject. My Father and I are huge Twins fans, and love watching the games when they're on, but the problem the last couple of years is... we can never watch the games.

Twins.tv is around now, giving us fans an option to be able to watch our favorite baseball team, but my Dad and I are skeptical about the price, the availability, etc.

I think we should use this forum topic to answer questions for anyone on the fence about purchasing Twins.TV and if other users who have purchased have had good experiences with it... or bad.

Freezes, Buffering, Blacking out, the Price and if its worth it, the hoops you've had to jump through in order to get the Twins on your computer or TV or Phone. Or that it's worked flawlessly and you've been enjoying Twins baseball so far this spring,  whatever it may be, we can use this topic to both praise, and vent about the current state of being able to watch Twins baseball,

Personally I’m waiting until opening day to see if they negotiate a deal with Xfinity and other cable/satellite providers. If there isn’t any clarity on that by opening day, then I will look into paying the $100 for Twins.tv. It’s lame that we are 8 days from opening day with no real update from MLB. But last year the Padres and Diamondbacks were in the same boat and an announcement was made on opening day that they’ll be on cable.

Do you expect the price to go down as the season goes on, or if they're struggling or will they keep it a firm price all season long?

I'm a tech savvy 40something, and am still slightly confused if I go to the MLB app to watch my Twins TV subscription. So far everything I've seen has been posted as "Free Game of the Day" so I'm still not confident I'm doing it right.

That said, I must be, because I think in the olden days those games were blacked out, but also not sure if that was the case during Spring Training or just the regular season.

My point being this is definitely confusing, and certainly will be for the non tech savvy.

I haven't had the Twins.TV sub in the past (obviously) but I have had the out-of-market version of MLB.TV (also through the MLB app) for a few years now.  In the past, all spring training games were freely available regardless of location, broadcast feed, etc., and the restrictions didn't kick in until the regular season started.  My understanding is that would also be the case with Twins.TV.  So if my understanding is correct, it's showing up to you the way it should be.

This was what I was wondering! For the people 20, 30, even 40 year old's this could be easier to navigate but any older generation fans I feel are going to struggle with getting this figured out

I'm a bit older, but in the same boat. We cut our DirecTV over the winter and I signed up for twins.tv, but so far have only viewed games marked "Free Game of the Day". Tomorrow may be the first broadcast not so labeled.

I’m in this boat as well.

I doubt it. They’ll probably remain firm on pricing throughout the year… Maybe a special price just for September baseball.

They really need to announce what's going on with the Twins and DirecTV thing.  I've been watching that way for 20+ years.

I’m pretty confident we’re going to be scrambling on Opening Day to find out which channel it’s on for Xfinity and DirecTV. MLB’s dropping the ball on giving advance notice so we can prepare.

Probably because they don’t know yet either. People asking in the Xfinity boards show that the Xfinity employees have no idea.

Correct - both sides will continue to negotiate up til the deadline.  If Direct TV doesn’t carry it I will cancel them and purchase Twinstv directly (may do it anyway).  I think the $20 a month is reasonable - people spend more than that at Starbucks on Wednesday morning.

If I could cancel Xfinity I would… I hate them with a fiery passion. Unfortunately I have no say in the matter. Xfinity is bundled in with my condo’s HOA fees so I’m paying for it whether I use cable or not.

Ouch.  That seems like a an item not universally agreed upon enough to bundle it in HOA dues.

First of all, I'm an idiot. I scrolled through the Twins' schedule and saw Twins vs. Red Sox and thought it was scheduled for today--nope. It's tomorrow, so I guess I'll find out if my subscription works then.

Secondly, isn't it a certainty that there will be an additional charge to carry the Twins channel on cable/DirecTV? We had Bally/FanDuel etc. on a SportPac that I didn't want except for the Twins games and paid > $20 per month. I don't think the price will go down much if it is only Twins games on a dedicated channel.

Living in Aberdeen, South Dakota and still attached to the cord there are two players in the cable market here (Midco & NVC) one of which I have. Both companies like Xfinity patrons on this site have little info and basically are in the dark too. If negotiations are happening the least they could do is pass on that tidbit. The customer service reps who take calls on the subject usually are not even aware of the situation which is looming. It would be nice if the response was "MLB and our executives are trying to hammer out a deal - stay tuned" instead of "duh, I dont know what your talking about"

I have Midco and nothing but crickets and it is starting to piss me off.

Will the games be available on cable?

If so... will it be available to me as part of my current package or will I have to add at cost?

If I have to add to my cable package... What is the cost?

If there is a cost... How does that cost compare to MLB.TV?

It is March 20, 11:19AM Central Time and the season opens one week from today.

Answers are needed... Well... Now!

Well at least with DirecTV the team they are playing will be broadcasting it.

That's my hope so far.

Free game of the day just means the game is free to watch. Thankfully, MLB pulled its head out of its monumental ass and began making all spring training games free to watch. That's why you're seeing that message littered around the MLB app in March.

On Opening Day, that will revert to one game(ish) a day.

for those with Midco, twins.tv will be available on the same channel tier that bally's was on last season.  channel 638.  however, it will be required that you also have the new-ish MidcoTV equipment
