  1. Part of me is intrigued by Gordon, but I'm deathly afraid that if the Twins take him we'll be hearing about a SS prospect for four years instead of having a major league quality SS on the big club next year. Barring a miracle, SS needs to be the Twins #1 priority in Free Agency during the coming off-season.
  2. I agree with your comments for the most part, but there is no need to make Radcliffe's record worse than it really is. First, while I think signability is part of the evaluation, lumping Travis Lee, Varitek and Heilman into the same category as Moses, Sanchez and Hunt is a little harsh. Second, excluding credit for Hunter, Walker, Redman, Cuddyer, Mauer, Span, Plouffe, Perkins, Garza, etc. might be fashionable, but probably not fair when highlighting all of the stinkers. For instance, Mauer over Prior wasn't a no-brainer. Just as it's hard to be overly negative on some consensus type picks, such as Ryan Mills. Finally, and I hate to mention it because he was shelled while in the show, but Serafini spent some time in the big leagues with us. By the way, Adam Johnson has to be in the bottom quarter of all-time #2 overall picks....for some reason that pick still hurts the most.
  3. Seth- Where would Mitch Brown rank on your list based on his brief stint in Arizona? In 27.2 innings he had 26 k's, WHIP of about 1.1 and had a .204 BA against. Would he be ahead of Bard at #23?
  4. While I understand Birdwatcher's comments regarding the Twins roster needing more players with toughness, I think it's directly linked to Gardy and his handling of young players. A lot of players that play with an edge find their way into Gardy's doghouse, e.g. Garza, Lohse, Valencia. It's also usually early in their tenor with the big club and at least half never find there way out of it. Even one of his eventual favorites, Cuddyer, was jerked around a bit before finally establishing himself. Thank goodness Perkins and Morneau pulled themselves out of the 1st/2nd year tailspin too. It might be a carryover philosophy from TK to tear down rookies before building them up, but the ratio of guys it appears to damage is near the top of the list why a regime change is warranted in my mind.
  5. How long until Chris Berman announces a Twins highlight and says "all he does is hit homeruns"?
  6. Who is the Cris Carter of Major League Baseball? A: Trevor Plouffe. All he does is hit bombs!
  7. If I was wearing the Twins GM hat, I'd throw $2-3M at Dave Duncan and hope he can rectify Frankie. Duncan would probably improve the whole staff, but getting Liriano on track would return multiples of that few million dollar investment.
