Two big wins yesterday. Now a new day with a clean slate. Baseball is relentless in it's schedule.

Tonight is a huge opportunity to close the gap even further. Larnach, Wallner, and Kepler should lead the charge. Cleveland will throw the bullpen at the Twins more quickly tonight.

In unrelated news, Julien is actually making progress and looking decent lately. I think he has turned a corner and could make a difference for the Twins in September. I hope he is completely focused towards that goal.

Matt Bowman exercised his out clause today. Twins have to promote or release him. With Stewart done and Topa facing another setback why not give him a real shot? He’s made some adjustments on the mound and has had MLB success in the past.
It’s not like there’s many options here

It would have to be for Dobnak. I'm sure there are discussions going on but the Twins have likely been closely monitoring Bowman and have definite thoughts on whether he is a viable option in the bullpen. I have not watched him myself.

Honestly not much of a decision for me. Dobnak doesn’t help this team. Winder can give them innings when they need them, might as well see if Bowman can help this pen. Just letting him walk would be silly.

Couldn't ask for a better start to a crucial series. In spite of the injuries there is available talent. I'm looking forward to watching these young pitchers in tough spots. Will the young, and especially the veteran, fielders back these guys up properly? You don't want any pitcher forced to get 4 or 5 outs in an inning. Big moment for SWR, can he bounce back from some scuffles?

I don't think the Twins can mathematically be .5 games back at the end of this series.  They will either be up .5 if they sweep, 1.5 if they split last 2, or down 3.5 if they drop the next 2.

I’d like to see Lewis in the lineup today, but there are too many options at the corners plus DH.

Why does Santana have to be in there every day, he has had one outstanding month.  Bring him in for defense at the end of the game.  But Lewis and Miranda will give us more offense on a consistent basis against RH pitching.

We need SWR to really step up tonight. Give us 6 solid innings and keep things under control. I don't know if he's hitting the wall, but his command has been lacking the last several starts. Hopefully, the bats put a bunch of runs on the board and make it an easy game for us.

Man it's nice to have real depth.

I have not been too impressed by Dobnak. Have you seen Bowman pitch? What does he offer? I cannot find any news on him right now.

In his few appearances Dobnak has shown nothing.  Whatever he had years ago is gone.  If Bowman cant reach Dobnak's current level he should be gone.

Although it’s only 4 innings, 2.14 WHIP is untenable

Santana has been pretty solid though, it's not like he's struggling at the dish.  He's also playing GG level defense.

Whats up with Topa?  Im seriously doubting he even exists.

I asked the same question yesterday and the response was that although he was getting outs at St. Paul, his velo and stuff was way down, probably due to his ongoing knee problem. Reports had been mostly encouraging prior to that.

Topa had what the FO is saying was a "setback". Supposedly a tired arm now. We won't be seeing him anytime soon.

So he will be fresh for next year because this year has been a well paid vacation.
