Yikes padres  sent two top 5 prospects for a couple relievers.

If that was necessary for the Padres to get Tanner Scott, who will be a free agent at season's end, then the cost for the Twins to get something meaningful today was prohibitive. And the FO's track record in getting marginal talent at the deadline isn't reassuring.

I have no idea if the Pohlads are cheap. Lack of transparency doesn't necessarily mean that is true. I will note that many of the writers and readers on this site are furious when trades aren't made, and they're furious when an acquisition doesn't pan out. No-win situation for the FO in that case.

No Top 100 prospects were traded.  Skubal, Quantril, Snell and Crochet stay put.

A lot of players changing uniforms, we will see how much of an impact it all makes.

Marlins active roster payroll down to $13.7M.

Sure. But why have Jim talk? What will that fix?

It won't fix anything, but it sure would be nice for him to get the tough questions that he created instead of making Falvey and Baldelli deal with something they had no control over.

Falvey can still make moves, yes he has cost restraints but there were moves to be made.  This can't be laid all at the feet of Joe Pohlad who is now in charge.

Sounds like Dobnak up with Kiriloff going to the 60-day.  Also sounds like Stewart might be headed back to the IL.

Then hopefully Stewart's struggles this week can be reduced in September with some more rest. Staumont, Okert and Thielbar will be hazardous in game situations with meaningful leverage. Looking like the Twins want Duran, Jax, Alcala, Sands, Richards, Stewart, Varland, Dobnak and Topa to be available in October. Might open the door for Matthews as well.

Was there actual top end talent  that got moved that didn’t come with a price tag Joe Pohlad wouldn't have ran screaming from? I can’t imagine there was.

Dobnak?

Stewart maybe. But I've been skeptical all year, and rightfully so.

Topa?

Varland?

You want Dobnak on the mound in October??

13 pitchers in October. Those nine plus Lopez, Ober, Ryan and SWR.

I'll wait.

Would Falvey have paid the price for top end talent, I am not convinced he would have if given no salary restraints.  We needed a LH reliever, Andrew Chafin would have been an upgrade and would have been about $2 million in salary.  Are you telling that Joe Pohlad would have said no to that.  I am not saying that Joe Pohlad doesn't share in the blame, but I think Falvey could do more as well.

AJ Puk costs $700K for the rest of this season.

Margot will get a pinch hit before the Pohlads will make a trade.

You are aware that the Pohlads have nothing to do with the roster makeup, right?

Signing big money deals are an obvious exception, but even then the Pohlads are not making the suggestions.

Andrew Chafin is the missing piece to win a World Series?

And Falvey was trying to wait everyone out, there were moves he could have made.

Andrew Chafin wouldn't be one of the Twins 8 best relievers?

No but we were not going to get a top end piece, so I was hoping for something to help improve the roster.  What should the budget be for salary.  How much do you think they should spend?

How to answer that? …. First part, no, not Dobnak. Second part, can we switch it to November?
