The Royals' farm system is one of the lower ranked systems in baseball. Raya and Priellip type talent would likely be among their top 4-5 prospects. Is that what they gave up?

Let’s be honest….the Pohlads need to sell the team.  They have completely flushed any positive marketing down the drain.

I just went with 8 and 18.  Raya is probably higher (45 FV), but Priellip is a 40 FV just like the Royals guys.  Anyway, overpay for a 29 yo pitcher with a short track record at a volatile position in my book.

The A's just traded Blackburn to the Mets. I believe that makes us the only team not to make a deal. Please correct me if I'm wrong on that. Approx 90 min left to the deadline.

I don't like our owners, but it can get worse. Sure, the Mets got a big spender, but they're in NY. What if we got the disaster that's the new ownership of the Marlins?

Guy isn’t even worthy of a roster spot. He’s been awful 3 years, the metrics back it up, but he eats innings during losing efforts, which is super helpful for a team with playoff aspirations

Pohlad ownership group wear cheap like a badge of honor and pride. They think they are smartest ownership in MLB. Very good at pissing off the fans,  so they win this award. They are not always worthy of criticism but this year, they blew last years good will before season started. Always content with being a middle of the road team, just good enough to win and qualify for the playoffs. But at least we're not the Marlins or the A's.

People are mad they didn't get a pitcher. But most of the time when they lose it is because they can't score more than 2 runs. Even good pitchers give up on average of 3+ runs per game. This team is not currently good enough to make a playoff run and no trade will change that. Hopefully by the time October rolls around they are on a good roll and everyone is clicking. Only then will they have a chance... but in baseball, everything is possible. So let's watch them start now by destroying the Mets.

Why the Pohlads deserve their share of criticism, it's not like our payroll is at $75 million.  Falvey always waits it out whether it is free agency or the trade deadline and then he makes a panic move to say he did something.  This front office is very risk averse and needs to take a share of the blame as well.  If they lose players to the Rule 5 draft this offseason due to the lack of moves they will look even worse.
