Tigers (Skubal) vs Twins (Woods Richardson): 7/2/24, 6:40pm

The Tigers are freefalling but are putting two *very* tough pitchers up against the Twins, particularly tonight.

Agree Brock. Skubal is a candidate to start the All-Star game. He has been terrific. This will be a test to see how good the right handed platoon really is. Flaherty has also been really good this year, but I would expect some regression to the mean from him. 

Detroit has been pesky for the Twins in 2023 and 2024. I hope they can win another series and it would be nice to knock off Skubal tonight.

noticed that the Gnats as expected finally recalled phenom James Wood from the Red Wings and DFA'd Eddie Rosario. Wonder if there is any interest in bringing him back? Or has that ship totally sailed? thoughts?

Hard pass. Rosario has been dreadful this year. -1.1 BWAR, .555 OPS in 235 PA.

Skubal's been awesome, but he's been a bit less so (still great) this past month.  Get 'em while there's at least a chink.

I think the ship may have crashed upon the shoals this time. Maybe he's got a third act, but I'm happy to cheer for him on some other team.

Rosario was never boring, I'll give him that.  The big moments always seemed to find him, both for good and for ill.  His outfield play was both spectacular, and spectacularly bad, sometimes in the same game. 

He had a few productive years back in the teens...but it was back in the teens.  I absolutely wish him well, but elsewhere.

Also significantly less awesome (but still good) on the road.  At Tiger Stadium he's been pretty much unbeatable.

Looks like Scubal is due to get pushed around at home.  Maybe get his home ERA more in line with his away ERA.  He's not as good away like today.

Going to take a lot to put runs on Skubal. Best bet is to continue good at bats and get to the Tigers bullpen. Sound defense behind Simeon is necessary to keep the score low.
